Max Streaming Service Partners with Le Monde and Télérama for Unique Offering in France
In a groundbreaking initiative, Warner Bros. Discovery’s streaming platform Max is collaborating with prominent French media institutions, Le Monde and Télérama. This unprecedented partnership aims to combine Max’s diverse streaming content with valuable news and cultural insights from these respected publishers, specifically targeting the French market.
The Media Giants: Le Monde and Télérama
Le Monde stands as France’s foremost national newspaper, with a robust subscriber base of around 650,000 and a vast readership extending both online and offline. Télérama, renowned for its cultural and entertainment guidance, boasts an impressive online community of 6 million engaged users.
What This Partnership Entails
Announced recently, this collaboration will integrate Max’s top-tier programming—featuring acclaimed HBO series such as House of the Dragon, The White Lotus, and The Last of Us—with high-quality journalism from Le Monde and Télérama’s rich cultural coverage. This strategic alliance is designed to enhance the viewing experience for French audiences while also appealing to international viewers.
Subscription Packages: Engaging French Audiences
Starting April 3, French consumers have the opportunity to choose from two unique subscription packages:
- Max Basic Bundle with Le Monde: Includes Max’s basic plan (ad-supported) alongside Le Monde’s articles, videos, podcasts, and newsletters for €14.99 ($16.17) a month.
- Max Basic Bundle with Télérama: Features the same Max basic plan with Télérama content for a monthly fee of €6.99 ($7.54).
Statements from Key Executives
Lou Grasser, Le Monde’s director of digital operations, commented on the partnership, stating, “Through this unprecedented collaboration with Max, we aim to broaden our audience and enhance subscriber loyalty by delivering enriched experiences tailored to modern consumption habits.” He emphasized that this agreement aligns with Le Monde’s vision of providing exclusive, quality content paired with a prestigious streaming service.
Fleur Lavedan, chairman of Télérama’s board, highlighted the significance of Télérama in the evolving content landscape, asserting, “In light of the content explosion and shifting consumer behaviors, Télérama’s role is increasingly vital: to guide readers in making informed decisions.”
Strategic Insights and Future Plans
This collaboration illustrates Max’s strategic positioning within the French market, having launched last year through direct service and partnerships with pay-TV providers like Canal+ and Amazon Prime. Warner Bros. Discovery plans to adopt a similar strategy as it expands into other major European markets, including the U.K., Germany, and Italy, with launches anticipated in 2026.
Guillaume Coffin, Senior VP of Sales for France, Benelux, and Africa at Warner Bros. Discovery, noted, “This initiative reflects our ambition to forge strategic alliances that aggregate premier content, resulting in an unparalleled user experience through extensive distribution.”
