Update Overview

  • Raven Software rolled out a new update for Call of Duty: Warzone on April 8, 2025.
  • This patch nerfs the widely debated Terminator operator skin and modifies the ground loot system.
  • The update removes the DM-10 Marksman Rifle, Tsarkov Marksman Rifle, and SVD Sniper Rifle from both ground loot and supply boxes.

In a bid to enhance player experience, Raven Software has launched a significant update for Call of Duty: Warzone. The update, which comes on the heels of Season 3 and the much-anticipated return of Verdansk, addresses community criticisms concerning the ground loot. Players have expressed dissatisfaction with certain loot items, and this new update aims to remedy that.

Since the deployment of Season 3 on April 3, Raven Software has acted swiftly, delivering multiple updates packed with essential bug fixes and gameplay tweaks. Most recently, on April 7, they introduced a minor patch that disabled the overpowered Snakeshot Ammunition and the Thermal 6x Scope due to identification issues preventing enemy players from seeing it glint. This prior update also updated various buy stations and introduced further bug fixes, setting the stage for the more comprehensive April 8 update.

The pivotal update released on April 8 will automatically take effect upon starting the game, eliminating the need for any additional downloads. As detailed in the official patch notes, the Terminator operator skin has undergone a visibility adjustment aimed at easing player targeting. In addition, the DM-10 Marksman Rifle, Tsarkov Marksman Rifle, and SVD Sniper Rifle have been expunged from both ground loot and supply boxes following community feedback about their overfrequency in play.

In addition to the Terminator skin changes, Activision has updated its Ricochet anti-cheat mechanism, necessitating email verification for new PC platform accounts. Various other enhancements, including user interface tweaks, stability improvements, and numerous bug fixes for the new Zombies map, Shattered Veil, have also been included in this comprehensive update.

This latest wave of adjustments for Warzone has been highly anticipated by the community since the inception of Season 3. It’s encouraging to witness Raven Software’s responsiveness to player feedback, rolling out updates rapidly. Reports indicate that Activision has experienced a significant boost in player engagement, likely fueled by the nostalgic return of Verdansk. As the community dives back into this classic map, there is hope that Raven Software continues to pay close attention to player suggestions for future enhancements.
