Lady Gaga recently contributed to the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Saturday Night Live (SNL), joining a lineup of notable stars this season, including Timothée Chalamet, Dave Chappelle, and Hozier. Gaga made her mark in the show’s fiftieth season, appearing prominently in two consecutive episodes.
During episode 14, which aired on March 1, and episode 15 on March 8, Gaga took on a dual role. She showcased her acting skills in various sketches and captivated the audience with a live performance of her latest single, Abracadabra.
Highlights from Lady Gaga’s Appearance on SNL
The March 8 episode kicked off with a satirical skit set in the White House. Characters portrayed figures like Donald Trump and Elon Musk, who humorously lamented the decline of Tesla’s stock after his foray into politics.
Following this, Gaga took to the stage for her monologue, jokingly asserting:
“I know you might be thinking I’m here to promote my album Mayhem, but I’m actually here to remind you that I’m an amazing actor.”
She playfully referenced her recent film, Joker 2, which underperformed at the box office and was nominated for a Razzie award for Worst Screen Duo. Gaga humorously vowed to pursue other projects, indicating her non-participation in a potential Joker 3.
In a humorous skit, Lady Gaga portrayed a character who departed from her boyfriend to attend culinary school in Paris, riding away on luggage. Although her boyfriend initially felt free, he quickly chased after her, realizing he didn’t want her to leave.
In another sketch, Gaga played a high school student who befriended a mouse resembling Stuart Little and was being bullied for his lack of strength. Gaga’s character encouraged him to train for an upcoming weightlifting competition, but the plot took a twist when he struggled to lift a mere two ounces—leading to more bullying and a structural collapse in the classroom.
In a surprising turn, Pip—the character who had been bullied—became the unexpected hero by lifting the collapsed roof and thereby saving both students and teachers.
Gaga’s performance continued with a comedic sketch featuring her and Bowen Yang as a pretentious couple out on a date. The humor escalated when they learned their wine selection cost an astounding $28,000 per bottle, prompting them to flee with the wine in tow.
Another sketch featured Gaga alongside Heidi Gardner as funeral planners, plotting a quirky 1920s-style funeral for their fictional client. Additionally, Mikey Day portrayed Gaga’s wealthy husband, “Lord Gaga,”who hilariously urged her to abandon her musical “hobby.”
In a lighthearted finale, a sketch depicted friends in an ice cream shop attempting to feign a birthday to secure a complimentary sundae.
