This controversy initially arose when the Garosero Research Institute claimed that Kim Sae-ron and the actor Kim Soo-hyun had been in a relationship for six years, allegedly starting in November 2015 when Sae-ron was underage. The family had previously announced intentions to conduct a digital forensic examination of past photographs of both actors to reclaim the narrative.
In a related development on March 20, 2025, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, filed legal action against the operator of Garosero Research Institute along with members of Sae-ron’s family. Charges include illegal filming and distribution, in violation of the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes.
Allegations Surrounding Kim Sae-ron’s Past Marriage
Amidst the scrutiny of Kim Soo-hyun’s alleged relationship with Kim Sae-ron, it has surfaced that the late actress may have been married. Her husband, referred to as “A,”has publicly defended himself, issuing a statement via the YouTube channel associated with Garosero Research Institute.
In his statement, “A”claimed that the couple married in January 2025, only three months after meeting. However, they faced challenges, including long-distance issues and personality differences, which prompted an annulment of their union.
Mr. A firmly refuted any accusations of domestic abuse, stating that if any such incidents had occurred, they would likely have been heard by neighbors due to the poor sound insulation in his apartment. He also emphasized that assault in the U.S. carries serious legal ramifications.
“I met Kim Sae-ron a total of four times from November 2024 to February 2025. Except for our first meeting, I was working, and she came to the U.S. on her own each month. If assaults or confinement happened, why would she voluntarily come to the U.S.?”stated the alleged husband of the late actress.
Regarding claims of monitoring her phone and social media accounts, he stated that they had mutually agreed to share passwords as a gesture of trust between a long-distance couple. He refuted rumors suggesting that their marriage was a response to an unexpected pregnancy or that Sae-ron had undergone an abortion.
