Exploring the WeIMS-Mel’s Drive-In Collaboration

The newly established WeIMS flagship store is conveniently located next to Mel’s Drive-In, which operates all day. This proximity inspired the collaboration that transformed Mel’s Drive-In into WeIMS Drive-In for the five-day duration.

The partnership resulted in a complete makeover of the diner’s decor, aligning it with WeIMS’ branding. In preparation for the event, Mel’s Drive-In was temporarily closed to facilitate these changes, enhancing the overall customer experience.

Colton Weiss, co-owner of Mel’s Drive-In, shared his excitement about the collaboration with WEHO Times, stating:

“We heard about WeIMS moving into the old West Time building about a year and a half ago, and we were excited. Kylie and Kendall [Jenner] have always supported Mel’s, so having WeIMS next door just made sense. Hopefully, it brings some new energy to Sunset.”

Weiss also mentioned the alterations to their jukebox, highlighting each element of the partnership:

“Even our jukebox has been updated with a playlist curated by WeIMS.”

In addition to the aesthetic changes, the diner introduced a fresh and enticing menu during their collaboration, featuring:

  • SKIMS Body Boost Smoothie – A nutritious blend enriched with dates and collagen.
  • SKIMS Signature Shake – A rich milkshake with a macho flair.
  • Pancakes featuring “SKIMS”crafted with powdered sugar delicately on top.
  • SKIMS Smash Burger, SKIMS Melt, Trending Tenders, SKIMS Classic Breakfast, and SKIMS Spiral Fries for a modern twist on classic favorites.

Throughout this event, the restaurant maintained a first-come, first-served policy; however, customers shopping at WeIMS received priority seating. Weiss reflected on the success of the drive-in collaboration, stating:

“It’s been nonstop. We’re open 24 hours Friday and Saturday, and people are showing up at all hours.”

As the collaboration came to a close on April 6, Mel’s Drive-In is set to revert to its original decor and menu beginning Monday, April 7. Meanwhile, the WeIMS flagship store will continue to welcome shoppers, operating from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday.
