Katie Rost from Real Housewives of Potomac Reveals Insights on Her Sobriety Journey

Katie Rost, a former cast member of the Real Housewives of Potomac, celebrated an important milestone, marking four months of sobriety on February 18, 2025. This achievement was announced via an Instagram post where she expressed her joy and determination with the following words:

“Grabbing my N.A. tag and my AA chip this week to celebrate 4 months CLEAN and SOBER. #Recovery by any and all means necessary. Let’s gooooooo!”

Rost’s journey towards recovery began in October 2022 and involved multiple stints in rehabilitation, as she addressed challenges related to alcohol use and the impact of prescribed Adderall medication. According to a Page Six report from November 8, 2023, this current milestone is a continuation of her progress, which also included achieving 60 and 90-day sobriety markers earlier in 2025.

Katie Rost’s Journey Through Recovery

The 44-year-old reality star, known for her prominent role in season one of Real Housewives of Potomac and subsequent appearances, is currently working as a hostess at The Wye Oak Tavern in Frederick, Maryland. She earns minimum wage while diligently focusing on her recovery efforts. This role not only provides her financial stability but also keeps her engaged with the community.

As of March 2025, Rost remains committed to her recovery, actively participating in both Narcotics Anonymous (NA) and Alcoholics Anonymous (AA) programs, attend regular meetings and balancing her work schedule. In her posts, she has shared her interactions with restaurant patrons who recognize her from the show, often stopping for selfies while keeping her professional commitments. Following a relapse, she celebrated reaching 60 days of sobriety by January 14, 2025, a notable accomplishment recognized in another Instagram update.

“90 days strong and sober. I loved getting my chip. This has been the hardest journey of my entire life. I have faced demons and fears and insecurities without my old friend and companion alcohol to dull away the pain,” she noted in a heartfelt Instagram message.

She also added:

“Nothing easy about it. Some days I really feel like everything sucks, but then a Real Housewives fan will come into the restaurant where I work, The Wye Oak Tavern in Frederick, and ask to do a selfie (I always say yes and love it guys). And they will tell me how proud they are of me. And it feels so good. Thanks for all of the faith, the journey and the unconditional love.”

Rost’s rehabilitation started at the Mountain Manor Treatment Center in Baltimore in October 2022, focusing on her alcohol use and managing her long-term Adderall prescriptions. She has spoken candidly about her medical journey during treatment and in social media updates, shedding light on her experiences with prescribed medications that have affected her physical and mental health.

Upon completing her rehabilitation program, she moved to a sober living facility in Frederick that provided her with a supportive environment to build upon the skills she developed during treatment. After transitioning from the sober living center, Rost took a job at an organic market, continuing to share her journey online while embracing the stability that regular employment provides. During this time, she was earning $14 an hour—quite a shift from her previous television and modeling career.
