Kathryn Hahn Shares Valuable Lesson from Amy Poehler for Agatha All Along Set

Insights from Kathryn Hahn on Ensemble Dynamics in Agatha All Along

Kathryn Hahn, known for her role as Agatha Harkness, recently shared valuable insights on fostering a collaborative atmosphere among her fellow cast members in Agatha All Along. Drawing inspiration from her experience alongside Amy Poehler in Parks and Recreation, Hahn emphasized the significance of creating an ensemble that supports and empowers each member.

Learning from the Best

In a recent appearance on Mythical Kitchen, Hahn recounted how key lessons from Poehler influenced her approach on set. She articulated her commitment to ensuring that all actors involved feel liberated and at ease, facilitating a more dynamic and expressive performance environment. Her philosophy underscores the essence of collaboration in storytelling, stating:

“I like an ensemble, like that’s how I began as an ensemble […] So I always think like…Taking lessons like from people that I’ve worked with the best in the number one position. I just think my job, like one of my jobs, is also to make an ensemble. Like make sure that everybody feels as comfortable as possible, as safe as possible. And I remember Amy… just being so supportive of everybody with it would come and that they felt so free. Yeah, and that’s, I think the main thing you want is to have every actor feel as free and comfortable to play.”

Celebrating Diversity in the Cast

Hahn also highlighted the remarkable diversity within the Agatha All Along cast, describing it as a “little coven.” She pointed out that the blend of actors from various backgrounds adds a unique layer to the series, especially in a franchise like Marvel where representation has historically been limited. Hahn reflected on the significance of this diverse ensemble:

“We had such an amazing cast of all ages, so like incredible women and… incredible queer people, Joe Locke… So, it definitely felt like a little coven because we were, it was such a scrappy group that aren’t usually represented, especially in Marvel.”

The vibrant chemistry among the cast not only enhances the storytelling but also sets a precedent for future projects in the MCU. As Hahn advocates for a supportive and inclusive atmosphere, it serves as a reminder that diversity and collaboration are pivotal in creating compelling art.
