Crunchyroll Unveils English-Subbed Teaser for Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon in India
In collaboration with Sony Pictures Entertainment, Crunchyroll is ready to release Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon in Indian theaters on the aforementioned date. Approximately two weeks prior to its theatrical debut, Crunchyroll India has made public the English-subtitled teaser trailer, building excitement among fans.
In an engaging format, the movie will not only recap the highlights of the first season but also introduce an exclusive episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off.”

The new teaser opens with nostalgic clips from the first season. It showcases the journey of Kafka Hibino, who pledged to his childhood friend, Mina Ashiro, that they would join the Defense Force together in their quest to combat the Kaiju menace. Initially failing the Defense Force exam, Kafka’s dreams seemed shattered until he was inspired to try again by fellow aspirant, Reno Ichikawa.
As Kafka prepared for another attempt at the Defense Force entrance exam, an unexpected twist occurred—a small Kaiju entered his body, granting him the extraordinary ability to transform into a Kaiju himself. Kafka and Reno decided to keep this secret as they enlisted in the Defense Force, leading them into a series of perilous encounters.

The trailer then transitions to highlight the “Hoshina’s Day Off” segment. It reveals that on this day off, Kafka, Reno, and Soushirou Hoshina find themselves in an unusual situation. While Reno is eager to enjoy his break, he grows suspicious of his Vice-Captain, believing Hoshina could be up to something illicit, prompting him to follow him covertly.
Notably, Reno won’t be flying solo on this secret mission; he will be joined by Hakua Igarashi, Iharu Furuhashi, Kikoru Shinomiya, and Akari Minase, making the investigation even more intriguing.
With a cinematic runtime of 119 minutes, Kaiju No. 8: Mission Recon will be presented in Japanese with English subtitles, promising an immersive experience for both domestic and international audiences.
