Steps to Become a Member of the Thieves Guild in Oblivion Remastered

The simplest route to join the Thieves Guild begins with examining the wanted posters of the Gray Fox dispersed throughout the Imperial City. Interact with a poster, then seek out a guard and inquire about the Gray Fox. Persist with this dialogue until you hear, “The beggars love him, especially in the Waterfront.” This will lead you to the Waterfront District.
Once there, engage with Puny Ancus, a beggar who can be persuaded to reveal information about the Gray Fox, provided his disposition is sufficiently high. Aim for a disposition of over 80; if successful, the beggar will share that he knows the Gray Fox. Opt for the dialogue choice: “Yes, I want to work with him,”and you will receive directions to meet at the Garden of Dareloth just after midnight.

At midnight, journey to the Garden of Dareloth and await an NPC named Armand Christophe to approach you. Engage him in conversation about the Gray Fox, and this will present you with an opportunity to join the Thieves Guild. Ensure your disposition with him is at least 60; if not, consider bribing him as well.

Upon joining, players will undertake the “May the Best Thief Win”quest. This mission involves a thrilling race against two other thieves to steal a diary. To secure it first, head directly to the far eastern side of the Temple District within the Imperial City and locate Amantius Allectus’ House, where you will find the diary hidden within a desk.
Having successfully retrieved the diary, return to the Garden of Dareloth at midnight to present it to Armand Christophe, thereby completing the quest and solidifying your membership in the Thieves Guild.
If you fail to obtain the diary before your competitors, fear not. The diary will be in possession of Methredhel. You can reclaim it by visiting her shack in the Waterfront District and lockpicking a chest that contains it.
