Jan Schwieterman, best known for his role as the villainous Kurt Bozwell in the iconic 1997 Nickelodeon film Good Burger, has passed away at the age of 52. His family shared the heartbreaking news on February 28, after Schwieterman succumbed to an aggressive form of Stage 4 cancer at Mercy Hospital in Washington, Missouri.

His brother, Chad Schwieterman, took to Facebook to share the details of Jan’s condition prior to his passing, expressing a keen sense of loss during this difficult time.

A Role to Remember: Kurt Bozwell

In the beloved comedy Good Burger, directed by Brian Robbins, Schwieterman portrayed Bozwell, the dastardly owner of Mondo Burger, which was in fierce competition with the titular Good Burger establishment run by characters played by Kenan Thompson and Kel Mitchell. This film was born from the success of the Nickelodeon sketch series All That, which Robbins co-created.

Early Life and Acting Career

Born on September 30, 1972, in Bluffton, Indiana, Jan Patrick Schwieterman had a passion for acting from an early age, earning the rank of Eagle Scout before relocating to California shortly after high school. His career began with guest appearances on popular television shows such as ABC’s McKenna and NBC’s ER in 1994. Following his role in Good Burger, he made notable appearances in several television series and films.

  • Guest appearances on three episodes of ABC’s Forever
  • Recurring role as Lewis in the first season (1998-99) of Felicity on The WB

Beyond his professional endeavors, Schwieterman was known for his love of travel and passion for playing Dungeons and Dragons, showcasing his vibrant personality outside of his acting career.
