Darren “IShowSpeed”is generating buzz during his ongoing tour of China, having recently encountered some of the nation’s most impressive technological advancements. One highlight of his trip was the opportunity to experience the EHang EH216-S, dubbed a “flying car,”while streaming from Shenzhen on April 5, 2025.
Exploring the EHang EH216-S: China’s Innovation in Flight
The EH216-S is classified as an electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft created by the innovative Chinese firm EHang Holdings Limited. Despite its car-like interior—which has led to the popular moniker of “flying car”—it operates fully autonomously, which meant IShowSpeed had to relinquish control during the flight.
Not surprisingly, IShowSpeed conveyed a mix of excitement and anxiety while embarking on this unique journey. His candid reaction captured his trepidation:
“I’m in a flying car. I wanna get off! Oh my god, it’s moving! Stop! Stop! I wanna get off!”
He further exclaimed:
“I’m the first person to drive a flying car. Oh my god, I’m shaking. Why do I keep doing this stuff in China? God, I love you. Come on, god. Pray for my safety.”
Other Technological Marvels: The Yangwang U8 Experience
The EHang EH216-S wasn’t the only high-tech vehicle that Speed sampled during his Shenzhen adventure. He also took a drive in the Yangwang U8, a luxury SUV developed by BYD Auto, notable for its remarkable capability to float on water for up to 30 minutes—a feature designed primarily for flood escape.
Accompanied by local guides, Speed was taken for a spin around a pond in this extraordinary vehicle. His lively response while seated inside the Yangwang U8 was filled with anticipation:
“On god, we’re sinking. On god, we’re sinking. Wait, dead a**. I’m f**king scared, bro. See, bro, I knew it wasn’t a good idea.”
Fortunately for IShowSpeed, the SUV aptly remained buoyant, impressively keeping him afloat for several minutes before safely returning to shore. After exiting the vehicle, he remarked:
“I’m done, I’m done. Ay, China got it. Chinese cars got it.”
