The latest instalment in the NHL series is NHL 24 and you may be wondering if the game includes crossplay.
Crossplay is a coveted feature in sports titles with a handful of games in the genre including it to their player base for the very first time more recently, including FIFA 23, and NBA 2K24 but hockey fans wondered if they would get it in the annual NHL releases as well.
NHL 23 did receive cross-console private matches which were added to the Hockey Ultimate Team mode in a post-launch update, however dedicated fans still wanted the opportunity to play with their friends across other game modes too.
So, does NHL 24 finally include full crossplay support?
NHL 24 makes it possible to play World of Chel with friends on other consoles.
Is NHL 24 cross-platform?
Yes, NHL 24 does support cross-platform play however crossplay is limited in the game.
While the feature is available across every platform including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series S/X, you will only be able to play with friends on the same generation consoles. So PS5 and Xbox Series S/X owners can play together, and PS4 and Xbox One players can enjoy the game with each other.
Unfortunately, you won’t be able to enjoy crossplay across generations, so if you’ve got a PS5 you won’t be able to play with a friend who has a PS4.
Crossplay game modes
As well as generational limitations, crossplay is only available in a couple of specific modes in NHL 24. These are:
- Hockey Ultimate Team
- World of Chel
Fans of Online Versus will still have to wait for the feature to get added to their favorite game mode.
