Voice actress Ai Mogami has recently spoken out regarding the tragic stabbing incident that led to the death of Airi Sato, a well-known Japanese streamer. At the time of the attack, Sato was livestreaming on Whowatch, where she often performed under the pseudonym Ai Mogami.
The situation became further complicated when initial reports incorrectly suggested that the victim was the voice actress herself, leading to widespread confusion about the identity of the victim. This miscommunication sparked concern among fans and followers alike.
In response to these developments, Ai Mogami took to the platform X to assure her supporters that she was unharmed. She also conveyed her heartfelt condolences to Airi Sato’s family and friends, as well as to others who were affected by the situation. According to a translation of her representative’s message, it stated:
“We would like to express our condolences to the victim of this incident, and at the same time, we have been able to confirm her safety and would like to inform you that it was not our ‘Mogami Ai.’ We would like to sincerely apologize to all involved parties for the concern and inconvenience caused.”
Understanding the Tragic Fate of Airi Sato: A Closer Look at the Incident
Airi Sato was an engaging IRL streamer, known for broadcasting her life to her audience. The unfortunate incident occurred during a livestream in broad daylight, when she was attacked by a man believed to be in his 40s or 50s. Reports suggest that this perpetrator was an “anti-fan,”a term used to describe individuals who harbor extreme negativity towards public figures, often resulting in harassment rather than admiration.
The attack took place near Takadanobaba in Shinjuku City, Tokyo—just a short distance from the local train station. Disturbing clips of the event have surfaced online, showing the immediate aftermath, with bystanders expressing shock and distress as Sato was left bleeding on the street.
Tragically, she succumbed to her injuries less than an hour after being rushed to the hospital. While authorities have arrested the suspect, his identity has not yet been released to the public.
Reports have indicated that Sato suffered multiple stab wounds to her head, neck, and chest, which ultimately led to cardiac arrest and her untimely passing.
