inZOI: Optimal PC Settings for Enhanced Performance

When examining the landscape of Early Access games, it is evident that their performance can vary widely. Some titles are remarkably polished, rivaling established triple-A releases, while others may be nearly unplayable. inZOI, the subject of this discussion, occupies a middle ground—it’s playable, but certainly not without its challenges.

The game excels in offering a comprehensive suite of graphics settings, enabling players to tailor the visual experience according to personal preferences. This flexibility is vital for optimizing both image quality and frame rates, aligning with the player’s specific objectives.

For gamers equipped with an Nvidia graphics card, inZOI provides support for DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), allowing for enhanced frame rates. However, it’s important to note that, as of this writing, AMD’s FSR (FidelityFX Super Resolution) is not available, yet players can manually adjust the rendering scale to improve performance.

While minimizing graphical settings typically maximizes frame rates, few players enjoy experiencing games in a ‘potato mode’ just for the sake of performance. Through extensive experimentation with the graphical settings, we identified a balanced configuration that achieves respectable frame rates without sacrificing image quality excessively.

Key settings that have a notable impact on frame rates in inZOI include:

  • Ray-tracing: Off
  • Ray-tracing Quality: Medium
  • Shadow Quality: Medium
  • Reflection Quality: Medium
  • Anti-Aliasing Quality: Medium
  • Post-Processing Quality: Medium
  • Texture Quality: Ultra
  • Shader Quality: Medium

It is advisable at first to set the graphical options to the High preset. After that, you can switch to the Custom setting and adjust the values as outlined above. This optimal configuration can frequently let the game hover around 60 frames per second, although the average remains closer to 50, which is commendable for an Early Access title with such maintained visual fidelity. Those using the desktop version with 12GB of VRAM are likely to experience even better performance.

If further enhancements in frame rates are desired, enabling Nvidia DLSS at the Quality (66% Render Scale) or Performance (50% Render Scale) preset can be beneficial. However, we recommend avoiding the Ultra Performance setting, as it tends to degrade visual clarity significantly.

It’s critical to remain aware that occasional stutters are a current reality in inZOI, persisting regardless of how much you deselect visual quality features. These disruptions tend to occur upon entering new environments where assets are loaded in real-time.

To mitigate these stutters, consider adjusting the settings for Object Display Distance, Lighting Display Distance, and Plant Density and Quality. Fine-tuning these values can provide a smoother gaming experience.
