In the vibrant world of Infinity Nikki, players are presented with numerous quests that offer valuable rewards, with “Purify! The Scent in the Cavern”being a standout early challenge. This quest serves as an introduction to the unique Whim Fragrances and allows players to unlock their first Whim Fragrance upon completion.
Whim Fragrances are special perfumes crafted to enhance the abilities of outfits in the game. By completing the quest “Purify! The Scent in the Cavern,”players gain access to the Traveller’s Musing Fragrance, which enables them to infuse attacks with the Purification Outfit, transforming them into homing shots that can greatly enhance combat efficacy.
Quest Overview: Purify! The Scent in the Cavern
To begin this quest, approach a mysterious figure sweeping the road just north of Florawish. This man, muttering about hidden treasure in a cave, will enlist the help of Nikki and Momo in dealing with nearby Esselings.
Upon returning from dealing with the Esselings, the man will express his gratitude and inform Nikki about a nearby treasure. Inside the cave, a journal entry about “Whim Fragrance”awaits. Progress through the cave to discover a large chamber, where you’ll encounter more Esselings and a chest to be opened.
Continuing through the cave, you’ll come across a series of ledges with some Esselings positioned below. Be sure to collect Bling as you hop between these ledges, then drop down to acquire valuable materials dropped by the Esselings. Additionally, collecting Dew of Inspiration will aid you in future crafting endeavors.
As you progress, be prepared for projectile attacks from Esselings. They are easily defeated in a single hit. After navigating these enemies, you’ll find an opportunity to collect a Whimstar by taking a brief detour.
Float across gaps to reach a tunnel filled with Esselings; eliminate them using the Purification Outfit, but maintain caution to avoid projectile attacks. Once the path is clear, you’ll find a chest containing the Herbal Scent, your sought-after treasure. A nearby hole provides a quick exit back to the surface, where you can report back to Eremita for further guidance.
Upon your return, Eremita will explain that similar materials for crafting Whim Fragrances can be found in various other caverns across the land. He will then assign you the task of crafting the Traveller’s Musings Whim Fragrance, requiring you to unlock it in the Heart of Infinity Menu. Be mindful, as one particular material needed can be elusive, detailed in the section below.
Locating the Tricky Patch
The most challenging material to acquire for the Traveller’s Musings recipe is the “Tricky Patch,”which is obtained from Spear Sacks, elusive enemies that appear in several locales throughout the game. While you may have encountered these earlier in the quest, seek out additional Spear Sacks in the area marked on the accompanying map, with the Secret Base Warp Spire as a convenient travel point.
After collecting as many Tricky Patches as possible from the defined area, explore the woods indicated in the image for additional Spear Sacks (the nearest Warp Spire is at Florawish Lane).
