Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch Discuss Missed Opportunities in Superman & Lois
In a recent conversation, Tyler Hoechlin and Bitsie Tulloch, the beloved stars of the hit series Superman & Lois, shared their thoughts on an intriguing episode concept that never made it to the screen. Despite Superman & Lois receiving acclaim for its storytelling and strong character development, the show was abruptly canceled following its fourth season, leaving behind numerous unfulfilled narratives and character arcs.
The abrupt conclusion of season four required the writers to hastily tie up several plotlines, providing closure for the show’s diverse cast of characters. However, both actors lament the missed potential of future episodes that could have further explored their characters.
A Dream Episode Featuring Lois Lane’s Superpowers
During a panel discussion hosted by ScreenRant’s Joe Deckelmeier at the “BEING SUPER WITH THE CAST OF SUPERMAN & LOIS”event at Fan Expo Philadelphia, Tulloch expressed her enthusiasm for a specific storyline she had envisioned. She suggested an episode where Lois Lane gains superpowers, allowing her to soar through the skies, akin to Superman. Tulloch mentioned that this imagined episode could have unfolded in the later seasons, particularly around seasons seven or eight.
Tyler Hoechlin, who portrays Superman, echoed Tulloch’s sentiments, stating he would have eagerly anticipated such an episode coming to life.
Bitsie Tulloch: “I wanted an episode – which I feel like we would’ve done if we had gotten the seven or eight seasons that we were told we were gonna do – where Lois had powers. Then I could do my little flying thing. I’d like to get on the wires and fly just once.”
Tyler Hoechlin: “I would have given anything to see that episode.”
This revelation not only highlights the creativity and aspirations held by the cast but also reflects what fans might have anticipated in a longer run. As the landscape of superhero television continues to evolve, stories like these remind us of the unique narratives that could have enriched the legacy of Superman & Lois.
