Vivian Wilson, the estranged daughter of billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, recently opened up about her challenging family dynamics in an interview with Teen Vogue, published on March 20, 2025. At just 20 years old, she revealed her limited interaction with most of her siblings, stating that she is unaware of the total number of them.
As one of Musk’s 14 children from four different relationships, Vivian noted that she identifies primarily with her four full siblings, whom she shares with her mother, Justine Wilson. Remarkably, she learned about some of her half-siblings through public announcements, rather than familial channels.
During her interview, she expressed her mixed feelings regarding her relationship with her siblings:
“Well, I have four of them. I’m tied for oldest. But when we fought, it wasn’t really with words. There was a lot of… I have four siblings. We’re going to leave it at that, honey.”
When further questioned about her ties with her brothers and sisters, Vivian cryptically responded, “That’s a question.” Having distanced herself from her father’s family, she admitted to being uninterested in their lives, emphasizing her loyalty to her mother:
“She’s divorced, werk. So yeah. I don’t really give a f— what they do. This is not my problem, okay?”
Limited Contact and Discoveries Through Media
Vivian discussed her brief interaction with Musk’s son with singer Grimes, X Æ A-12, revealing she has only seen him once:
“I’ve seen X once, when he was very little.”
Intriguingly, Vivian shared that she learned about some of Musk’s children via social media rather than from family discussions. She specifically highlighted her surprise at discovering Shivon Zilis’ three children with Musk:
“I had no idea before that. I found out about the Shivon Zilis thing the same time everyone else did.”
Likewise, she became aware of Grimes’ second child with Musk through a Reddit post by a drag queen:
“For a time, me and Grimes were not really in communication because I wasn’t in communication with anyone in the family, which still holds true.”
A Complex Family Tree
The Musk family tree is notably complex. Elon Musk and Justine Wilson welcomed their first child, Nevada Alexander, in 2002. Tragically, Nevada passed away at just 10 weeks old. The couple later had five additional children: twins Vivian and Griffin, now 20, and triplets Kai, Saxon, and Damian, currently 19.
In 2020, Musk and Grimes announced the arrival of their son, X Æ A-12, followed by two more children: Exa Dark Sideræl and Techno Mechanicus. Concurrently, court documents revealed Musk fathered twins Strider and Azure with Zilis. Adding to the growing list of Musk’s offspring, author Ashley St. Clair claimed in February 2025 that she had given birth to his child. Shortly thereafter, Zilis disclosed that she and Musk had secretly welcomed their fourth child, Seldon Lycurgus.
