Abbey Romeo, 26, and David Isaacman, 30, who gained fame as stars of the Emmy Award-winning series Love on the Spectrum, are celebrating four years of their relationship. The show’s third season premiered on Netflix on April 2, 2025, coinciding with World Autism Awareness Day, bringing fresh insights into their romantic journey.
The couple initially crossed paths in season 1, shared exciting safari adventures in season 2, and now, they are navigating discussions about marriage and family planning in the latest episodes. Abbey recently shared her thoughts on their relationship in an exclusive interview with Parade on the same day, revealing how profoundly David has impacted her life.
“Meeting David has changed my life tremendously. I used to feel isolated and alone as a kid. But now, as an adult, I feel accepted for who I am. I appreciate that he understands the way my mind works. He’s a good boyfriend, and he texts me every morning. He is very kind and patient with me, and he makes my stuffed animals talk,”she stated.
Exploring Future Possibilities in Season 3
In a heartfelt hot tub conversation during season 3, Abbey and David spoke openly about their aspirations for family. David expressed a desire to adopt, while Abbey contemplated the possibility of natural childbirth after ceasing birth control. Their engaging discussions delved into practical aspects as well, with David sharing calming techniques and breathing exercises to ease potential challenges during childbirth.
Their journey has not only been about future plans; Abbey’s mother, Christine, also shared her perspectives on their relationship during an appearance on The Unplanned Podcast on March 5, 2025. She emphasized the importance of flexibility in their relationship dynamics.
“It doesn’t have to be in the traditional sense of what a neurotypical person would make it look like. You can have your place, he can still have his place. You can still do what you do until you’re ready to move in together…so that they can make that commitment without having it to change everything else,”Christine explained.
Navigating Daily Life Together
The couple has cultivated a strong connection through consistent daily communications. David supports Abbey in managing her sensory sensitivities, notably providing comfort in crowded or loud environments by covering her ears. Their bond is enriched by shared interests, particularly their mutual love for animals, which has become a recurring theme in their adventures.
Among their recent outings, they visited the Wildlife Learning Center and revisited locations from their initial dates, reinforcing the memories of their journey together. David, in a display of affection and understanding, would often animate Abbey’s stuffed animals with different voices, demonstrating his engagement with her interests.
As part of their celebrations leading up to David’s 30th birthday, they ventured to New York City to enjoy Broadway shows. During an interview with Netflix Tudum released on April 4, 2025, Abbey expressed their joyful experiences together.
“David and I are going on four years together and we go on really fun dates. We got to go to the premiere of the Mufasa movie because we love lions, and I’m David’s lioness,”
The couple’s affinity for animals continued with a memorable trip to Moorpark College, where they enjoyed a behind-the-scenes tour of the zoo and interacted with various animals.
“Abbey and her mom took us to visit Moorpark college, where there is a learning zoo. We had a private tour of the lions, tigers, saw Delilah the bird, fed a tortoise, touched a diamondback snake, and saw many more animals,”David remarked in a Netflix Tudum interview.
Living Arrangements and Future Aspirations
Currently, David lives with his sister while Abbey resides with her mother, Christine. This arrangement allows both of them to maintain independence while nurturing their relationship. In season 3, the couple explored wedding plans, contemplating the San Diego Zoo Safari Park as a potential venue, and hinted at moving closer to the venue in the future.
They have consciously decided against rushing significant life decisions, prioritizing comfort and stability instead. During a recent interview with Today.com on April 2, they reflected on their connection, stating they feel “married from the inside.”
The season wrapped up with them discussing exciting future travel plans, including indulging in authentic Italian pizza together. Throughout their journey, Abbey and David have emphasized the importance of building their relationship at a comfortable pace while looking forward to future milestones.
Love on the Spectrum Season 3 is available for streaming on Netflix, offering viewers an authentic glimpse into the couple’s evolving romance.
