Jangmo-o is a pseudo-legendary Pokemon in the game, and as such it’s really hard to get. Whether you’re still in need of one to register on your Pokedex, or you’re trying to evolve it into Kommo-o, here are all the different ways you can get Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go.
The Dragon-type Jangmo-o first appeared in Pokemon Go back in March 2022 with the Welcome to Alola event. However, its slim chances of spawning made it almost impossible for players to catch it, with still plenty of them not having one to this day.
Luckily, the new Pokemon Go Lunar New Year 2024 event will give them better chances of spotting this ancient creature, as it will spawn in the wild from February 5, 2024 at 10 AM until Sunday, February 11, 2024 at 8 PM local time.

How to get Jangmo-o in Pokemon Go
There are currently three ways to get a Jangmo-o in the game:
- As a wild encounter (only while using the Daily Adventure Incense)
- In 10 km Eggs
- As an encounter from the current Research Breakthrough (December 1, 2023 – March 1, 2024)
Previously, players were able to get one as a reward for completing the first part of the Noxious Swamp Timed Research, which took place back in August 2023.
Now, during the Lunar New Year 2024 event, players will also have a slight chance of running into Jangmo-o as a wild encounter alongside Magikarp, Dratini, Shuckle, Fennekin, Skrelp, and Noibat.
How to evolve Jangmo-o into Hakamo-o & Kommo-o in Pokemon Go
Jangmo-o evolves into Hakamo-o with the help of 25 Candy. Subsequently, you can use 100 extra Candy to evolve Hakamo-o into Kommo-o.

There are no special items or Buddy tasks required for this evolution, which makes the process relatively easy, aside from the almost impossible task of gathering all the required Candy.
Can Jangmo-o be Shiny in Pokemon Go?
No, Shiny Jangmo-o is not available to encounter in Pokemon Go.
As a pseudo-legendary Pokemon, its Shiny version might become available throughout the year. We will update this guide once its arrival is confirmed.
