The highly anticipated game, The Duskbloods, was officially revealed during the Nintendo Switch 2 Direct event on April 2, 2025. In addition to showcasing the console’s advanced hardware, this presentation featured an array of exciting game announcements, with FromSoftware’s The Duskbloods particularly stealing the spotlight.
As an online multiplayer title, The Duskbloods sparked concerns among fans of FromSoftware regarding the future of their beloved single-player games. However, the company’s president, Hidetaka Miyazaki, has addressed these worries, reassuring gamers that the studio will continue its tradition of crafting immersive single-player experiences.
FromSoftware’s Commitment to Single-Player Titles Reinforced by Hidetaka Miyazaki
FromSoftware has built a solid reputation for delivering exceptional single-player games, including the iconic Dark Souls series, Elden Ring, and Sekiro. Given this legacy, fans were initially taken aback by the announcement of The Duskbloods as a multiplayer-focused game exclusive to the Nintendo Switch 2.

Miyazaki was prompt in clarifying the studio’s position, emphasizing that their commitment to single-player narratives remains intact. A recent entry on Nintendo’s official website features Miyazaki discussing their approach to gaming, particularly regarding multiplayer elements.
“Please allow me to address one thing. As previously mentioned, this is an online multiplayer title at its core, but this doesn’t mean that we as a company have decided to shift to a more multiplayer-focused direction with titles going forward.”
In his address, Hidetaka Miyazaki also revealed plans for a Switch 2 version of Elden Ring. He expressed enthusiasm for exploring innovative gameplay mechanics, including the Player vs. Player vs. Enemy (PvPvE) format, while assuring fans that new single-player experiences are on the horizon.
“The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Elden Ring was also announced, and we still intend to actively develop single-player focused games such as this that embrace our more traditional style.”
