HasanAbi Defends Free Speech: Calls Out Asmongold for Comments on ICE Arresting Palestinian Activist Mahmoud Khalil

Hasanabi and Asmongold Clash Over ICE Arrest of Palestinian Activist

Prominent political streamer Hasan “HasanAbi”Piker has reignited tensions with fellow Twitch creator Zack “Asmongold”following controversial comments regarding the arrest of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil by the ICE. Piker pointedly criticized Asmongold’s stance, suggesting hypocrisy in his approach to free speech issues.

In a post shared on X on March 13, 2025, HasanAbi sarcastically labeled Asmongold a “classic free speech defender”while contrasting his complaints about censorship in video game development with his apparent approval of Khalil’s apprehension. He stated:

“asmongold thinks its a violation of free speech when devs make videogame b**bs smaller, but when the dhs openly kidnaps a greencard holder for being pro palestine, he thinks its awesome and not a violation of the first amendment. classic free speech defender stuff here.”

This exchange unfolded against the backdrop of a clip where Asmongold defended the arrest of Khalil. The Twitch streamer expressed skepticism about whether Khalil had committed a crime, emphasizing that there is a heightened standard of conduct expected from green card holders compared to that of naturalized citizens. He articulated his view that Khalil was not meeting that standard, implying that deportation was warranted:

“It’s hard to say whether he committed a crime, but there is a higher standard of conduct for green card holders than people who are naturalized citizens. And he wasn’t meeting that conduct, so he is getting deported hopefully.”

Asmongold continued to express his support for such deportations, asserting:

“I support this, completely. I hope they do this to more of them. We have enough troublemakers in the country already without importing new ones on green cards to start even more trouble. Who needs this?”

HasanAbi Seeks Open Dialogue with Asmongold

This latest clash isn’t isolated; HasanAbi and Asmongold have had multiple public disagreements over various topics. Just earlier this month, they traded barbs following HasanAbi’s quick Twitch ban after a different controversy.

In response to HasanAbi’s critique, Asmongold initially laughed it off before accusing him of distorting his argument into an exaggerated caricature, stating:

“Hasan does this a lot where he takes a person’s argument and he turns it into an extreme caricature of the argument. And then he acts like that’s what they’re doing in order to make them look ridiculous.”

Following this, HasanAbi invited Asmongold to engage in direct conversation through his own post on X:

“Apologies if i’ve misunderstood your argument, but i’m open to clarification if you want to talk to me directly.”

During his Twitch stream on March 12, 2025, HasanAbi amplified this sentiment, suggesting that Asmongold is resistant to engaging in a discussion about their conflicting views:

“The reason why we can’t have a f**king conversation, even though I @’ed him directly, is because he doesn’t want to have a conversation. It’s not me.”

Asmongold’s recent engagement in political discourse has prompted significant shifts in his career, including his departure from the OTK organization, attributed to his remarks about immigration and deportation.
