Locating Dr. Holder’s Sample One in Atomfall
While the quest may initially appear straightforward, navigating The Interchange reveals numerous challenges that could hinder your progress. Some routes may frustrate you with dead ends, while others might lead to lengthy detours. Here’s a concise strategy to efficiently locate the item and complete your mission.
Acquiring the Keycard from Dr. Holder
Start by heading to St. Katherine’s Church, which can be found at coordinates 33.0E, 79.1N. Inside the church, you will notice stairs leading down to the underground area. Upon entering, turn right to find a wooden door that leads into the Forgotten Cellar, identifiable by the many lit candles that adorn the entrance.
To unlock this door, you will need the Church cellar key, which can be obtained by defeating an enemy within the church. Afterward, proceed further to encounter Dr. Alan Holder. Discuss your objectives with him, and he will provide you with the necessary Keycard to locate Sample One.
Gaining Entrance to The Interchange
Utilize the Keycard to enter The Interchange, located adjacent to the church. Once inside, head in the direction of the Oberon region. Note that many entrances to the Medical wing are locked, meaning your access must come through the main entrance.
Accessing the Medical Wing
Upon entering the Medical room, proceed straight ahead, then take a right followed by a left to locate an elevator. To gain access to this elevator, you’ll need to use Dr. Holder’s Keycard.
Once the elevator doors open, jump down and crawl through the passageway. Ensure you are equipped with strong weaponry, particularly melee weapons, due to the presence of numerous infected foes.
Finding the Auditorium
After overcoming the enemies, your next task is to activate three important buttons: Decontamination, System Power (located adjacent to the Laboratories), and Lockdown Control (found in the lockdown control area). Subsequently, make your way to the Auditorium, located next to the Lockdown Control room.
Collecting Sample One and Making Your Escape
As you reach the Auditorium, you will discover a corpse on a table surrounded by spore clouds, which can inflict serious damage. Look for Sample One next to the body. The safest strategy is to dodge the enemy, quickly grab the item, and swiftly retreat to a non-infected room.
Once you’ve secured the Sample One, proceed to a metal door that leads to the Medical Tunnel. Descend the stairs to find a large yellow door that will take you out of The Interchange.
Delivering Sample One
After exiting The Interchange, return to St. Katherine’s Church and meet with Dr. Holder. Engage in conversation and select the dialogue option, “I found Sample One for you,” to complete the mission successfully.
