How to Retrieve the Kanzashi in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
In Assassin’s Creed Shadows, finding the Kanzashi is a critical task within the side quest known as “The Stray Dogs.” This quest requires players to assist Yaya in the aftermath of the events from the “Heads Will Roll”mission. However, players face the challenge of locating the Kanzashi with minimal guidance, relying solely on three cryptic hints to determine its whereabouts.
Initiating the Quest
To kick off this quest, make your way to the Fisherman’s District in Osaka, located within the Izumi Settsu region. Upon arrival, you will discover Yaya under duress from attackers. Following your conversation, Yaya will guide you to the Temple of Osaka and request that you retrieve the Kanzashi from Tetsuo.
Clues to Find the Kanzashi

- It is located in northern Izumi Settsu.
- It can be found in the Church of Takatsuki.
- Tetsuo is the current holder of the item.
Utilize your scouts to navigate toward the Takatsuki settlement situated northwest of Yawata Plains. As you make your way to the Church of Takatsuki, identified by its unique white tower, you’ll find it south of the Takatsuki Castle.
Confronting Tetsuo
Enter the Church and proceed to the first floor where Tetsuo awaits. Engaging in conversation will trigger a cutscene; however, Tetsuo will not relinquish the Kanzashi easily and will flee instead. Fortunately, you won’t lose track of him as the objective marker will consistently point you in the right direction.
As Tetsuo bolts eastward, simply sprint to catch up without needing to perform any complex parkour maneuvers. Your only challenge will be maneuvering around the townsfolk scattered in your path. If you maintain your speed, you’ll soon be close enough to corner him.
The Conclusion of the Chase
In an interesting twist, if you fail to apprehend Tetsuo within a given timeframe, Yaya will intervene and catch him for you. Regardless of who manages to capture Tetsuo, a confrontation between Yaya and him will follow. Although you can influence her response to Tetsuo, the outcome of the quest will remain unchanged.
However, there is a pivotal decision to be made during this final dialogue. If you wish for Yaya to join your hideout, select the “Let’s Work Together” option. Conversely, if you choose the other option, it will conclude the quest without Yaya’s addition to your team.
