Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters Making Its Webtoon Debut

A Collaboration with Prominent Creators

Godzilla in Hell

The Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters collection is an anthology that compiles three significant miniseries: Godzilla in Hell, Godzilla: Rage Across Time, and Godzilla: Legends. In Godzilla in Hell, the monster navigates the depths of Hell, confronting familiar adversaries; it’s noted as one of his darkest stories, where Godzilla battles both God and Satan. Conversely, Godzilla: Rage Across Time features a series of shorts that transport the titular monster through pivotal historical epochs, from Ancient Greece facing Zeus to the age of dinosaurs. Lastly, Godzilla: Legends features five stand-alone narratives that spotlight different creatures from the franchise.

This collection also showcases all cover artwork and variants from each miniseries. Although the specific stories to be remastered for Webtoon have yet to be disclosed, the remastering promise stands out. Having been over a decade since their initial releases, (with Godzilla in Hell debuting in 2015, Rage Across Time in 2016, and Legends in 2011), their re-launch on Webtoon allows for technological advancements in storytelling, preserving the rich legacy of Godzilla’s finest comics.

Since its inception in 1954, Godzilla has been a cultural phenomenon, and this new initiative through Webtoon demonstrates that a franchise doesn’t lose relevance simply due to age. This revitalization serves to attract a new generation of fans and broadens Godzilla’s appeal beyond its traditional audience. As indicated by the sentiments shared by the IDW CEO, this partnership with Webtoon provides an exciting opportunity for the King of the Monsters to engage with a completely fresh demographic. Consequently, this endeavor not only maintains but also enhances Godzilla’s enduring legacy.
