Grumpyface Studios, renowned for its collaboration with Adult Swim Games and Cartoon Network, has expressed deep sorrow over the removal of several games from the Cartoon Network Games catalog. This studio has developed multiple mobile games inspired by popular shows such as Adventure Time and Regular Show, along with the acclaimed Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy. These titles have garnered significant attention across both major consoles and PC platforms.
In early December, the situation worsened as at least six games under the Cartoon Network label were officially removed from accessibility across various digital storefronts, including Steam and the Nintendo eShop. This wave of delistings is part of a broader trend in 2024, where Warner Bros. Discovery, the corporate parent of Cartoon Network, has been systematically shelving unfinished projects and eliminating original films from streaming platforms to cut costs. As a result, beloved games like Steven Universe: Save the Light and Steven Universe: Unleash the Light were part of this unfortunate downsizing.
In a statement shared via Twitter, Grumpyface Studios clarified that they were not part of the decision-making process that led to the delisting of the Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy and Teeny Titans games. They indicated that further inquiries regarding this matter should be directed to Cartoon Network and Warner Bros. Discovery while reiterating their heartbreak over this outcome that many fans can relate to.
Clarification from Grumpyface on Game Delisting
We are not involved with the decision to delist our Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy games or our Teeny Titans games. We are also unable to speak on it further. All questions about the sunsetting of the games should be sent to Cartoon Network and WB. We are heartbroken. https://t.co/Fza5DaDNa3 — Grumpyface Studios (@Grumpyface) December 23, 2024
The Steven Universe: The Light Trilogy consists of RPG titles inspired by the beloved animated series. The first entry, Attack the Light, was exclusive to mobile devices, while its sequels, Save the Light and Unleash the Light, were available on platforms like Steam, Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Similarly, the Teeny Titans game, based on the Teen Titans GO! series, features gameplay elements where Robin collects and enhances figures, engaging in tournaments against other characters in a style reminiscent of Pokémon.

Additionally, other titles are being removed from digital platforms, including Adventure Time: Finn and Jake’s Epic Quest and Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time. This trend of delisting is not a new phenomenon for Warner Bros.; in March 2024, a significant number of its games underwent delisting. Nevertheless, public backlash during that incident spared many Adult Swim titles, highlighting the passionate community advocating for these beloved games. Fans have been vocal about their outrage towards the abrupt removal of these games and are actively seeking ways to preserve their access to these digital collections.
