Fox Announces New Competition Series ‘The Snake’ Hosted by Jim Jefferies

Fox Introduces ‘The Snake’: A Fresh Take on Unscripted Competition TV

In a bold move within the expanding landscape of unscripted television, Fox is set to unveil a new game show that combines strategy, social dynamics, and the thrill of competition. Titled The Snake, this latest offering shares thematic elements with popular shows like The Traitors, as it explores the intricacies of human interaction and cunning tactics.

The forthcoming series, hosted by comedian Jim Jefferies, promises to deliver a captivating experience for viewers. Created by the visionary SallyAnn Salsano, known for her work on Jersey Shore, The Snake is set to premiere this summer, inviting audiences into a world filled with unexpected twists and turns.

A Unique Spin on Strategy Competition

According to Michael Thorn, president of Fox Television Network, “SallyAnn brings her uniquely original voice to Fox with this fresh take on the strategy competition series and a universally appealing concept that will captivate audiences. Trust me — The Snake lives up to its name.”

Promising a distinctive flavor to the “social survival of the fittest”genre, The Snake will feature 15 contestants from “various persuasive professions.”As described by Fox, the competition will challenge players to leverage their skills in persuasion and strategy as they navigate through various trials. The show will culminate in a dramatic elimination round known as the Saving Ceremony, where the dynamics of friendship, deception, and social maneuvering come into play. Contestants will not only strive to win challenges but also to influence and connect with their peers, as maintaining relationships is critical to survival.

Incentives to Win

The stakes are high, with a cash prize of $100,000 awaiting the ultimate victor. Jefferies humorously remarked on his hosting role, saying, “I’m thrilled to be hosting The Snake, a show about making friends and faking friends. I’ve been training for this job my whole life. Growing up in Australia, and now living in Hollywood, I’ve been around plenty of snakes.”

Current Trends and Competition

The Snake will join a growing lineup of similar shows, including The Trust and Million Dollar Secret on Netflix. The original pioneer of this subgenre, The Mole, captured audiences’ attention in the early 2000s on ABC and has seen a successful revival on Netflix in recent years.

Produced by 495 Productions, the series sees Salsano taking the reins as showrunner alongside executive producers Frank Miccolis and Kim Green. With its innovative premise and dynamic host, The Snake is poised to make a significant impact on the reality television landscape.
