On March 13, 2025, the official website and X (formerly Twitter) account for the Food for the Soul anime successfully revealed a new promotional video along with a striking key visual. This video not only validated the April 13, 2025 release date but also highlighted the cast, production team, and the opening theme song.
Produced by Aniplex and animated by the esteemed production studio P.A. Works, this original anime project is the brainchild of Atto, known for the acclaimed series Non Non Biyori. The confirmation of the series’ production was previously announced with the launch of a dedicated website by Aniplex in December 2024.
New Promotional Video Confirms Launch Date for Food for the Soul Anime
According to the latest promotional video, shared by the official staff on March 13, episodes of the Food for the Soul anime will air every Sunday on Tokyo MX, Gunma TV, Tochigi TV, and BS11 TV, beginning at 12:30 AM JST on April 13, 2025, marking the beginning of the Spring 2025 anime season. Additionally, Me-Tele will broadcast the series at 2:30 AM JST on the same date. The anime will also be available on ABC TV starting from April 14 at 12:40 AM JST, and AT-X will air it at 10:30 PM JST on April 13, 2025. Digital streaming platforms such as d Anime Store, ABEMA, Lemino, and FOD will host the series in Japan.
The newly released promotional video showcases the protagonists, highlighting a charming encounter between the characters Shinon and Maco as they open a lunchbox. This brief clip provides fans with a peek into the characters’ leisurely lifestyles and also introduces the opening theme, Sonna Mon Ne (It Can Be Like That), performed by Sumi.
Alongside the promotional video, the official staff has revealed a captivating key visual featuring characters Maco, Kurea, Tsutsuji, Mokotaro, Nana, and Shinon, all surrounded by a variety of appealing foods. Importantly, it was also announced that a manga adaptation by Quro will debut on Kadokawa’s Alive+ website on March 15, 2025.
The trailer introduced the main voice cast for the series: Hana Shimano voices Maco Kawai, while Ai Kakuma lends her voice to Kurea. Natsune Inui joins as Tsutsuji, with Yoshino Aoyama portraying Shinon. Azuki Moeno takes the role of Mokotaro, and saya Aizawa plays Nana Hoshi. Further casting announcements are expected soon.

In a collaborative effort, Shinya Kawatsura and Yu Harumi, known for their work on Non Non Biyori, will co-direct the slice-of-life series at P.A. Works. Hajime Mitsuda, acting as the chief animation director, will adapt Atto’s original character designs for animation. Additionally, Yoshihiro Hiki has been appointed as the script supervisor, with music composed by Hiromi Mizutani, and Takeshi Takadera handling sound direction.
