The episode opens with haunting visuals of Adolla, teeming with infernal creatures. A crescent moon hangs eerily above the scorched land, accompanied by the mournful cries of infernals. Observing this from a distance is none other than the Evangelist, who revels in the chaos.

The narrative then transitions to Haumea, who struggles in despair while attempting to harness the collective unconscious. Charon, standing helplessly outside, witnesses her plight. Following her session, Haumea, accompanied by Charon, prepares to lead the empire towards its true destiny.

Meanwhile, Shinra Kusakabe and Arthur Boyle are busy training at the Fire Force Company 8 station. During their sparring session, Captain Akitaru Obi provides the chief of the Tokyo Fire Defense Agency with an update regarding their operations and collaborative investigation.

In his report, Akitaru details the discovery of another Amaterasu outside the empire and some intriguing insights into the Great Cataclysm that transpired 250 years ago. He reassures the chief that investigations into Haijima Industry revealed no collusion with the White Clad.

He further discusses the emergence of infernal insects that cause Artificial Infernalization, as well as the case involving Nataku Son, the bearer of the Adolla Burst. While Akitaru’s report unfolds, the viewer is treated to impressive animation showcasing the main cast’s abilities, including Tamaki demonstrating her flames in training alongside Shinra and Arthur.

His report continues with revelations about a human experimentation facility located in the Nether and the White Clad’s destructive intentions towards the Tokyo Empire. Akitaru concludes his briefing by mentioning their successful collaboration with Fire Force Company 7 and Haijima, which he believes is a crucial step towards understanding the mystery of Spontaneous Human Combustion.

Just then, soldiers from the Tokyo Imperial Army burst into the room to arrest Akitaru Obi, leaving the chief in shock. Akitaru, insisting there has been a mistake, urges the chief to notify Hinawa of the disturbing turn of events. As he is taken away, he is taken aback to see the White Clad members waiting outside.

Hinawa receives an urgent call, likely from the chief, informing him of Akitaru’s arrest. He promptly gathers Shinra and the others for an emergency meeting. The episode then cuts to the Holy Sol Temple, where Raffles III articulates the pervasive fear of Spontaneous Human Combustion that has gripped people ever since the Great Cataclysm.

Raffles III declares it time for the empire to unify and rejuvenate. He convenes Captain Burns and his team for a critical discussion at Curia, where he instructs them to collaborate with the enigmatic White Clad, who emerge from the shadows.

Realizing the empire’s fragmentation hampers progress, Raffles III reaches out to Haumea and the others. Captain Burns prepares to unleash his flames, but Haumea interjects, stating they do not wish to engage in conflict within Curia. She probes Burns’ thoughts using her Talking Head, questioning whether he comprehends their ultimate aim—transforming Earth back into a Sun, mimicking the Sun’s actions from the past.

Haumea’s unsettling declaration leaves Captain Burns momentarily silent as he grapples with the gravity of their intention. As Haumea implores Burns to demonstrate his faith, he succumbs to the “Divine Madness”of the Evangelist, deciding to ally himself with the White-Clad.

Back at Company 8, Takehisa Hinawa informs the crew about Akitaru’s arrest and the unsettling presence of the White Clad nearby. Tamaki, Iris, and the others express disbelief at these events, but Hinawa underscores that the means by which the White Clad infiltrated the Empire remains unclear. He is convinced that their objective centers around capturing Shinra, the holder of the Adolla Burst.

While Shinra expresses his willingness to sacrifice himself for Akitaru’s sake, Hinawa resolutely affirms that the 8th will never betray their allies. Instead, he intends to rescue Obi on his own, despite the risk of being labeled a traitor. Undeterred, Shinra and his teammates insist on joining him, and the stage is set for an escalating conflict between Company 8 and the Tokyo Empire.

In a separate scene, Captain Leonard Burns updates Haumea on Obi’s apprehension and inquires if this aligns with the Evangelist’s desire to recapture Shinra Kusakabe and the Adolla Burst. Haumea affirms this, revealing Obi will serve as bait to draw Shinra into their grasp.

As they discuss Shinra’s connection to the Adolla Burst, Leonard suggests an insidious plan to implant Akitaru with an infernal insect, hinting at dire consequences ahead.
