Yunjin’s Journey and Inspiration from BTS

Yunjin has openly spoken about her challenges growing up as an Asian individual in the United States during a segment on the show Leemujin Service in 2022. She recalled how music became her sanctuary amid her struggles with identity and acceptance. Despite being Korean, she often felt alienated and recognized the lack of representation of Korean artists in the Western music scene, which led her to question her aspirations.

“In the midst of that thought, I saw BTS sunbaenim winning an award at the American Music Awards, which is very famous. Watching that made me have great pride as a Korean and encouraged me a lot. So it made me want to be a singer who can also help and encourage others,”she reflected.

Throughout her journey, Yunjin has frequently credited BTS as a source of inspiration. As a devoted fan, she adorned her dorm with their posters. Now, as a part of LE SSERAFIM, she continues to show her reverence for the group.

In the latest season of DAY OFF, fans observed two BTS albums prominently displayed in her room—one being the Jack In The Box vinyl, gifted by j-hope, and the other Suga’s D-DAY.

Moreover, Yunjin showcased her respect for BTS through her participation in Haegeum dance challenges alongside Chaewon, and by collaborating with j-hope on the track “I Don't Know,”featured in his album Hope on the Street Vol. 1 released in March 2024.

Recently, LE SSERAFIM launched their new single “Hot,”which achieved impressive success by debuting at No. 14 on the Official Singles Sales and Downloads charts in the U.K., marking their highest ranking to date.
