Fans Anticipate “GTA 6 Online as the Biggest Online Game for Years”: Expectations for GTA Online’s Successor

Rockstar Games is gearing up for the highly anticipated release of GTA 6 Online, a multiplayer experience that fans are eagerly awaiting. Despite the developers’ silence on specifics, gaming enthusiasts have begun to voice their expectations for this successor to GTA Online. Notably, community member @SynthPotato recently expressed their optimism in an X post from March 17, 2025:

“GTA 6 Online will be the biggest online game for years to come.”

In addition, @SynthPotato highlighted concerns regarding the game’s initial content, hoping that GTA 6 Online would not mirror Red Dead Online’s sparse launch. They added that it might take time to reach the extensive content level of the existing GTA Online, which has thrived for over 11 years.

Given that GTA Online has captivated players for more than a decade, it’s reasonable to speculate that its successor could maintain a similar trajectory, as suggested by @SynthPotato.

Another prominent figure in the community, YouTuber @GhillieYT, has also weighed in on what to expect, particularly regarding the GTA+ membership, stating:

“It WILL push GTA+ to the absolute max for sure. But hopefully it’s a good mode at launch. At the very least no Mk 2s or Orbital Cannons.”

As anticipation builds, fans have additional hopes for this forthcoming online adventure. Below are some popular community expectations for GTA 6 Online:

Rockstar Games has announced that Grand Theft Auto 6 is set to launch in Fall 2025. However, there’s speculation that GTA 6 Online may not coincide with the launch of the main title, and logical reasons support this theory.

Notably, when Grand Theft Auto Online debuted in October 2013, it followed just a month after GTA 5’s release. Yet, given the current landscape, it’s plausible that Rockstar may take a different approach this time for two key reasons:

  • The standalone release of Grand Theft Auto Online for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March 2022 indicates that Rockstar may opt to develop the next multiplayer title as a separate entity, allowing for additional time and refinement before its release.
  • Recent reports have suggested that Rockstar is in talks with creators from platforms like Roblox and Fortnite about potentially integrating a metaverse concept with GTA 6.

Considering these factors, it is likely that GTA 6 Online will arrive at least a year after the main game, although Rockstar could very well surprise fans with an earlier debut.
