On April 8, 2025, Netflix unveiled the first three episodes of Kian’s Bizarre B&B, a unique series that features a remarkable cast, including Jin, Kian84, and Ji Ye-eun. Set against the backdrop of a fantastical, floating bed and breakfast—crafted from the vivid imagination of Kian84—the show turns conventional guesthouse programming on its head.
As reported by The Korea Herald, the project is helmed by Jung Hyo-min, who previously achieved acclaim with Hyori’s Homestay. The innovative premise seeks to revolutionize modern guesthouse portrayals, seamlessly combining extraordinary elements with relatable guest experiences. Jung noted that Kian84’s creative vision played a pivotal role in refreshing the show’s format.
“If the show led by Kian84 were to happen, it seemed like it would naturally turn into a show with a completely different vibe from traditional guesthouse programs,”the producer stated.
The production team constructed an elaborate set on Ulleungdo Island, faithfully capturing Kian84’s imaginative sketches, astonishing even the art director with their fantastical designs. Elements such as slide exits, kitchens accessible by poles, stargazing beds, and cocoon-shaped tea rooms contribute to a distinctive atmosphere that challenges the cast and guests alike.
Kian’s Bizarre B&B: Cast Dynamics and Viewer Engagement
In the premiere, Kian84, Jin, and Ji Ye-eun find themselves temporarily relocated to a mountain house due to an approaching typhoon. This brief interruption leads them to the main ocean-themed B&B by episode two, where they embark on a journey that encompasses shopping, cooking, and hosting guests. Throughout the show, the chemistry among the cast flourishes as they navigate everyday tasks.
Despite its lighthearted approach, the series presents the cast with demanding scenarios, such as attempting to sleep on hanging beds outdoors. Notably, Lee So-min expressed her initial concerns regarding Jin’s adaptability to these conditions. She recounted her thoughts about the challenge:
“When I imagined him as a guest, I couldn’t visualize him sleeping outside; it was daunting. Since we also invited a superstar, I was worried, ‘What if he says it’s too hard and wants to leave?'”
Contrary to expectations, Jin proved to be remarkably resilient, resting soundly throughout the experience.
“But when we actually started filming, I was surprised that Jin was the one who slept the longest. People are really diverse, and I thought to myself that superstars are amazing—my stereotypes were shattered,”she added.
Jin’s casting not only adds star power but also serves as a platform to unveil his off-stage persona. Jung Hyo-min pointed out that previous portrayals on-screen had only scratched the surface of Jin’s charisma, expressing hope that Kian’s Bizarre B&B would reveal more of his genuine character.
“As for Jin, I think the public hasn’t even seen a tenth of his human charm. I thought we could bring out Jin’s charm through this kind of variety show,”he commented.
Jin was enthusiastic about joining the show following his military service, with participation confirmed during his enlistment. He skillfully arranged to fit filming into his post-service schedule on Ulleungdo Island.
Interestingly, neither Kian84 nor Ji Ye-eun were aware of Jin’s involvement prior to their first encounter on set, adding an authentic touch to their initial chemistry.
The show is set to release the next three episodes on April 15, with a total of nine episodes culminating in a final broadcast on April 22.
