Explaining Untainted Paradise in Path of Exile 2

Delving into the Atlas of Worlds and navigating its various maps represents the primary focus of the endgame experience in Path of Exile 2. Players who dedicate time to exploring this system gradually become well-versed in its intricacies, including the unique mechanics at play with different map types.

Beyond the standard map offerings, players will encounter Unique maps that feature special properties not detailed in-game. One notable example is the Untainted Paradise. Below, we provide insights into its specific attributes and functionality.

Understanding Untainted Paradise in PoE 2

Untainted Paradise Unique Map in Path of Exile 2

The Untainted Paradise map offers players two distinct modifiers:

  • (200–400)% increased Experience gain
  • Monsters drop no items

This Unique map is designed to facilitate significant experience gains over a short duration. However, it’s important to note that the effectiveness of Untainted Paradise diminishes as a player’s level increases. The experience rewards from the map do not scale with character level.

As a point of reference, a level 89 character can expect to fill approximately 22% of their experience bar after completing Untainted Paradise. In contrast, a level 95 character might gain only around 5%, influenced by the map’s rolls and the Waystone utilized. Thus, lower-level characters stand to gain more from this particular map.

Furthermore, a juiced map at Tier 15 or higher can provide experience gains comparable to or even exceeding those of Untainted Paradise. Consequently, players above level 90 may consider reserving this map for a future character in their league.

Despite the absence of Boss encounters within Untainted Paradise, players will still face a mix of normal (white), magic (blue), and rare (yellow) monsters. It is essential to remember that the Overseer Precursor Tablet, which generates Bosses, will not have any effect here.

Another significant limitation is that Untainted Paradise does not yield any item drops. Consequently, using a Waystone that boosts the “Increased Rarity of Items Found in this Area”or “Increased Quantity of Items Found in this Area”will not influence drop rates.

This Unique map exclusively features beast-type monsters, allowing players to employ the Tame Beast skill on all encountered enemies.

Impact of Waystone Tier on Untainted Paradise in PoE 2

Indeed, the tier of the Waystone does influence the experience gained in Untainted Paradise. A higher-tier Waystone results in stronger monsters, which in turn leads to increased experience rewards.

Moreover, specific modifiers on the Waystone, such as “#% Increased Experience Gain” and “#% Increased Pack Size,” impact the enemies within Untainted Paradise. While leveraging a Tier 16 Waystone can enhance experience gains, players often find that the benefit of progressing from a Level 79 Area Level (Tier 15) to a Level 80 Area Level (Tier 16) is minimal. It is usually more advantageous to utilize Tier 16 maps for conventional juiced maps.

As a Unique map, completing Untainted Paradise for the first time grants players a Book of Unique Knowledge, which can be exchanged with Doryani for two points on the Atlas passive skill tree. However, to earn subsequent Unique map Atlas points, players must clear other Unique maps.
