The Weapon Mastery system in Throne and Liberty has undergone significant transformation with the release of the recent Wilds of Talandre expansion. This overhaul is part of NC Studio X’s initiative to refresh legacy systems and enhance player engagement by offering more choices and meaningful decision-making opportunities.
Since its initial launch, Throne and Liberty has progressively introduced a variety of power progression systems, steadily expanding both their number and features. The Weapon Mastery system, being the oldest, is now accompanied by trait unlocking, upgrading, Runes, and the new Artifacts. In response to feedback indicating that the previous Weapon Mastery was becoming monotonous, the developers sought to revamp its mechanics entirely.
Overview of Changes in the Weapon Mastery System

For those curious about the history of the Weapon Mastery system, we provide a comprehensive overview of its previous format, illustrating its evolution. In essence, the old system allowed players to earn XP that was allocated to their equipped weapon, with a smaller portion directed toward a secondary weapon set.
As players accumulated sufficient XP, they would earn points to invest in one of three distinct trait trees to enhance their character builds. However, these trees were quite simplistic and thematically restricted, comprising two minor nodes followed by one significant node that offered larger bonuses.
The revamped system expands upon this foundation by introducing a more nuanced investment model alongside notable cumulative bonuses, limitations, and importantly, distinct role designs. Now, players can allocate up to 200 points across a tree featuring over 350 nodes, a considerable upgrade from the older framework which only offered 20 points across 28 nodes.
Unlocking nodes now requires various resources, with the primary nodes demanding 60,000 Sollant for activation. Subsequent nodes necessitate incrementally higher Sollant amounts along with a substantial quantity of Precious Rubrix Ores or Precious Rubrix. Additionally, players can withdraw or reinvest points without incurring penalties, a significant improvement over the previous system.

The method for accumulating XP has largely remained unchanged; however, the Training Dew currency has been rebranded to Weapon Mastery Seals, which now provide Mastery XP in increments. Players can obtain these Seals through activities like Abyss Dungeons, completing Exploration Codex objectives, advancing through Taedal Tower levels, and more. Moreover, XP is now retained and can be distributed strategically at each level, enabling players to significantly enhance their preferred weapon.
The development team has reaffirmed its commitment to refining small-scale power progression systems and will continue to make improvements as needed. This was highlighted in an interview with the Globalization Design Manager from Amazon Games, who discussed future updates. Mark your calendars for the forthcoming March 27th update, which promises to introduce Epic grade Runes, among other enhancements.
