Explained: RaKai and Lil Rodney’s Son Viewbotting Allegations

The Twitch community is buzzing with controversy as streamers RaKai, also known as “2xRaKai,”and Lil Rodney Son, identified by his username “girlhefunny1x,”face serious allegations of view botting. For those unfamiliar, view botting refers to the unethical practice of artificially boosting viewer counts through automated software, creating the illusion of larger audiences during live broadcasts.

This scandal comes on the heels of similar accusations against other popular streamers, including Mikyle “N3on”and a few members of the FaZe Clan. RaKai and Lil Rodney Son, both closely associated with fellow streamer Kai Cenat, are now embroiled in this growing narrative. The allegations were spotlighted during a recent stream by Felix “xQc,”where he remarked:

“Some of Kai’s friends though…if I speak…want me to show you something that’s a little bit off the charts?…Yesterday, I didn’t even know about this guy, and I think he’s the GOAT…This guy might be the GOAT. He’s just doing it better.”

xQc specifically questioned Lil Rodney Son’s Twitch metrics, citing notable discrepancies in viewership data. In the weeks leading up to this controversy, Lil Rodney Son’s average viewership hovered around 1,000 viewers. Yet, his stream on April 2, 2025, reported a staggering increase to 60,000 viewers. In response to this rapid surge, xQc exclaimed:

“1K, next day 800, next day 8K, next day, 60K. That’s the GOAT, I mean, then 20K, 30K, that’s the absolute GOAT of streaming…we’ve been doing it all wrong for a whole decade, we’re f**king stupid.”

Analyzing the Twitch Metrics of RaKai and Lil Rodney Son

The allegations of view botting against RaKai and Lil Rodney Son have raised significant concerns within the Twitch community, as this practice not only breaches Twitch’s Terms of Service but can also lead to account suspensions for offenders. By scrutinizing the streaming statistics from both creators, we can gain insights into these claims.

Focusing first on Lil Rodney Son’s streaming history, between March 23 and 27, 2025, he streamed five times, where his peak viewer counts ranged from 900 to 8,000. However, during streams in April, that number skyrocketed to a peak of 60,000, along with other high figures of 25,000 and 30,000:

A similar pattern is evident in RaKai’s streaming trajectory. From March 13 to 23, his viewer counts peaked between 9,000 to 16,000. Yet, on March 30, his numbers surged to 43,000, culminating in an impressive 100,000 viewers by April 6:

Many fans have resonated with xQc’s concerns. For instance, one viewer shared a screenshot from RaKai’s April 9, 2025, stream, indicating a viewer count exceeding 38,000, labeling the surge as suspicious. The viewer commented:

“Yeah Rakai’s stream is definitely botted. xQc was right, the metrics make no sense. 37.2% authenticated viewers. Worst I’ve seen so far.”

Additionally, RaKai’s involvement in another controversy featuring internet personality Lil Tay adds another layer to his public image. Tay has publicly accused RaKai of disrespectful behavior, alleging that he kicked her out of her hotel room.
