In a recent discussion with Game Rant, Caracal Games founder Tommaso Bonanni shared how the team drew inspiration from their passion for Breath of the Wild, aiming to encapsulate its essence while creating a distinctive experience.
Star Overdrive presents players with an expansive alien world that spans roughly 105 square miles for exploration. Not only will players race through diverse terrains, but the game also integrates hoverboard mechanics into its combat system. Similar to Breath of the Wild, Star Overdrive aims to foster emergent gameplay, encouraging players to manipulate its mechanics to face combat challenges, solve intricate puzzles, and traverse the environment creatively.
Since late March 2025, Star Overdrive has been available for pre-order, with its official release anticipated this Thursday, April 10. The standard version of the game will retail at $34.99 / €34.99, while the Deluxe Edition is available for $39.99. The Deluxe version includes exclusive features such as one unique hoverboard design, three distinct styles, and a set of 50 customizable dyes, in addition to the game’s soundtrack and a digital manga.
