Renowned actor, director, and producer Eva Longoria has been announced as the recipient of the esteemed Platino Honor Award at this year’s ceremony, which will take place in Madrid.
A Celebration of Achievement
The award ceremony, celebrating its 12th edition of the Platino Awards, is set for April 27 at the Municipal Palace. This prestigious event, often likened to the Oscars for Ibero-America, will recognize Longoria for her remarkable contributions to the audiovisual industry and her commitment to representing the Latino community within the American entertainment landscape.
Cinematic Journey and Influential Roles
Longoria’s journey in the television industry began in 2000 with guest appearances, but it was her role as Gabrielle Solis in ABC’s famed series Desperate Housewives that catapulted her to international fame in 2004. Since then, she has made significant appearances in acclaimed shows such as Empire, Devious Maids, Brooklyn Nine-Nine, BoJack Horseman, and Jane the Virgin.
From Acting to Production
Venturing behind the scenes, Longoria founded her production company, UnbeliEVAble Entertainment, which has allowed her to produce and direct numerous projects. One prominent example is the TV series Grand Hotel. In March 2023, she debuted her latest docuseries, Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico, and in May 2022, it was confirmed that CNN would bring back the concept with Eva Longoria: Searching for Spain, set to premiere in spring 2025.
Recent Work and Film Appearances
In addition to her work in television, Longoria recently starred in the Apple TV+ film Tierra de Mujeres, which she both executive produced and acted in, collaborating with renowned actress Carmen Maura.
Recognition of Excellence
This year, Longoria succeeds Cecilia Roth as the latest recipient of the Platino Honor Award. Previous honorees include luminaries from the Ibero-American realm such as Benicio del Toro (2023), Carmen Maura (2022), Diego Luna (2021), José Sacristán (2020), and Raphael (2019).
Longoria’s upcoming recognition highlights her invaluable contributions to the arts and the influence she wields in promoting diverse voices in media.
