The anticipation among fans of Prime Video‘s The Boys franchise has reached a fever pitch. Devotees have been keenly awaiting updates from Eric Kripke, the creative mind behind the series, and he has finally delivered some exciting news.
Since its premiere in July 2019, The Boys has established itself as a flagship series for Prime Video, capturing a massive audience. As we look ahead, the franchise is set to showcase its fifth and final season sometime in 2026. Meanwhile, its influence has permeated popular culture, with characters making appearances in hit video games such as Call of Duty and Mortal Kombat. The expansion of the franchise shows no signs of deceleration, featuring the launch of spin-offs. Notably, The Boys Presents: Diabolical arrived in 2022, and future projects include a new spin-off titled The Boys: Mexico and a prequel series named Vought Rising, which is currently in production. Furthermore, the recently launched Gen V, the franchise’s second and most successful spin-off, has been renewed for a second season in October 2023. However, there had been a silence surrounding updates on this particular project until now.
In a recent update, Eric Kripke took to X early Saturday, providing fans with fresh insights regarding the status of Gen V’s upcoming season. He revealed that the editing for the episodes has been completed, and the team has transitioned to work on “music, sound, and VFX.”Additionally, he hinted at an impending release of a trailer and a date announcement. Kripke expressed confidence, stating he believes this season surpasses the first and promises it “will be worth the wait.”

(I think this season is better than S1 & will be worth the wait) @genv @TheBoysTV @PointGrey @PrimeVideo https://t.co/jrTV4sRAYK — Eric Kripke (@therealKripke) March 29, 2025
Are You Prepared to Return to School with The Boys and Gen V?

The inaugural eight-episode season of Gen V introduced viewers to the halls of Godolkin University School of Crimefighting. Here, aspiring superheroes strive to achieve their ultimate goal: joining the esteemed Vought International superhero collective known as The Seven. This latest offering continues the tradition of its predecessor, The Boys, unearthing quirks in character design such as Little Cricket, who alters her size through unconventional means, and The Incredible Steve, a student with the ability to reattach severed limbs.
Similar to The Boys, Gen V adeptly balances satire with storytelling, offering a comedic critique of superhero culture while connecting emotionally with its audience. The franchise has carved a niche for itself by exploring the absurdity inherent in superhero storytelling while maintaining relevance through authentic character arcs.
As fans eagerly await further developments, it seems that the return to the outrageous universe of Vought International is drawing closer. It promises to be an exhilarating return for both The Boys and Gen V, both of which are readily available for streaming on Prime Video.
