Universal Epic Universe has introduced an impressive array of attractions, notably featuring the “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry”ride. This attraction is the latest gem added to the Wizarding World and expands upon Universal Orlando Resort’s existing Wizarding World, focusing on the beloved Harry Potter franchise. Located within Epic Universe’s five distinct realms, this new area, The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Ministry of Magic, predominantly captures the charm of 1920s Paris while also integrating elements from the British Ministry of Magic.
Currently, Universal Orlando Resort boasts five attractions dedicated to Harry Potter, including two stops along the Hogwarts Express. This number will soon rise to six with the debut of “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry,”set to open on May 22, 2025.
Queue Line for Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry Sets High Expectations
An Immersive Experience Before the Ride Begins

As you traverse through Place Caché, your journey leads you to the entrance of “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry.”The queue experience is meticulously crafted to enhance anticipation, starting with your passage through the Métro-Floo, one of the standout elements of this attraction. Upon entering, you’ll find yourself in the grand atrium of the British Ministry of Magic.
From this atrium, guests can admire offices that overlook the enchanting Fountain of Magical Brethren, all under the watchful gaze of a banner featuring Dolores Umbridge, who is currently facing trial. The queue snakes around the fountain and into various rooms throughout the green-tiled Ministry building, showcasing Umbridge’s office, the Magical Archives, and an Auror locker room. One can even spot the newly introduced character, Higgledy, Umbridge’s former House-elf.
Higgledy, a character exclusive to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, adds depth to the experience.
Rumors suggest that the capacity of the queue for this attraction may stretch up to six hours. While this figure remains anecdotal, it reflects the thorough design intended to keep guests engaged within the richly themed surroundings. On a particularly hot day of my visit, I welcomed the chance to relax in the air-conditioned space while immersing myself in the intricate details of the attraction.
Anticipating the Ride Experience at Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry
Immerse Yourself in the Action

Upon navigating through the Ministry of Magic, riders prepare to board the magical lift that serves as the centerpiece for this riveting new ride. Each lift comprises two seating rows: a front row with three groups of two seats, and a raised back row designed for eight guests. All seats are well-padded, designed to mimic the comfort of official Ministry chairs as guests participate in Umbridge’s trial.
The narrative of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry revolves around Dolores Umbridge’s bid for freedom aided by Death Eaters intent on acquiring a Time-Turner. Guests join forces with Harry, Ron, and Hermione to thwart her nefarious plans, embarking on a thrilling journey through the Ministry, complete with exhilarating drops, spins, and narrowly avoiding perilous attacks from various threats. This immersive experience combines advanced motion simulation with striking visual effects and expertly crafted animatronics, culminating in an electrifying finale. From my vantage point at the back of the first row, I appreciated the strategic design allowing me to stabilize myself against the wall during unexpected tumbles.
My Enthralling Experience at Epic Universe’s New Harry Potter Ride
A Distinctive Addition to the Harry Potter Attractions

While Universal Orlando Resort has a rich portfolio of Harry Potter attractions, it’s understandable that some might overlook “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry”upon the opening of Epic Universe. However, I passionately recommend experiencing this particular ride due to its innovative approach compared to existing offerings within the expansive Wizarding World.
Following your adventure on “Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry,”consider catching a live show inspired by Fantastic Beasts at Le Cirque Arcanus.
Each attraction in the Harry Potter series possesses unique qualities, yet the unparalleled storytelling and cutting-edge design of Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry truly surpassed my expectations. Despite experiencing a technical hiccup during its inaugural operation, which temporarily halted the ride, my enthusiasm remained undeterred. After being returned to the boarding area, my companions and I found humor in the situation, eagerly re-boarded another lift, and completed the full ride experience. This unexpected turn of events felt like a bonus, providing me with an entertaining anecdote to share as one of the fortunate guests to celebrate the official launch of this new thrilling adventure.
