Elder Scrolls Online Introduces ‘Writhing Wall’ Cooperative Event Launching Summer 2025

On April 10, 2025, a groundbreaking presentation for Elder Scrolls Online unveiled an unprecedented event called the Writhing Wall. This event is a significant component of the 2025 Seasons of the Worm storyline, set to occur this summer between the first and second chapters of the narrative. While a shift in development strategy was anticipated due to the cessation of chapter releases, the scale of this event exceeds expectations.

The upcoming Elder Scrolls Online content will introduce a fresh narrative through the Writhing Wall, an extraordinary cooperative event that engages the entire server but is only available for a limited duration. Although many details are still under wraps, here’s what is currently known about this monumental gathering.

The Unique Nature of the Writhing Wall Event

The Writhing Wall event marks a first for Elder Scrolls Online within the expansive realm of Tamriel. Its collaborative spirit is reminiscent of a historical event from another MMORPG: the Ahn’qiraj event in the early days of World of Warcraft. Although both events involve community participation, they differ significantly in execution. During the Ahn’qiraj event, both factions vied for resources to unlock the gates, culminating in a race to claim rewards.

In contrast, the Writhing Wall requires cooperation among players on their respective mega-servers, tackling the formidable wall of souls that separates Solstice Island. Here, they must unite to thwart the plans of the Cult of the Black Worm, who aims to invade from the isolated Eastern Solstice.

To dismantle the wall and thwart the worm cult’s invasion, players must defend Siege Camps, strengthen Camp Defenses, and construct a weapon to destroy the Writhing Wall. This event fosters a sense of community, as everyone can contribute in various ways to achieve a common goal.

The dynamic nature of this event means that players will witness the server’s collective progress through different phases at varying rates. This introduces an element of competition among mega-servers, as they race to complete the event and determine which server will be the first to conquer the Writhing Wall, ultimately leading to the second act of the Seasons of the Worm storyline.

One intriguing aspect surrounding the Writhing Wall event remains unanswered: What will occur if a server fails to breach the wall? The anticipation of unknown consequences stirs curiosity among fans, leaving them eager for answers later this summer.
