Overview of Elden Ring Nightreign
- Elden Ring Nightreign is a cooperative PvE spinoff featuring predefined characters, including Duchess.
- Duchess offers a dynamic, agility-focused gameplay style complemented by her unique abilities, Restage and Finale.
- Before the game’s release on May 30, three additional characters are yet to be announced.
A new trailer has been unveiled showcasing Duchess, one of the eight characters available in Elden Ring Nightreign, a cooperative PvE spinoff of FromSoftware’s acclaimed 2022 game, Elden Ring. Distinct from typical gameplay, Nightreign offers a battle royale-like experience where players engage in a procedurally generated version of Limgrave, called Limveld. Throughout three in-game days and nights, players gather equipment and enhance their skills, culminating in a formidable boss battle by the end of the third day.
In contrast to its predecessor, Elden Ring, the Nightreign installment excludes character customization or creation; players are limited to predetermined avatars. To date, FromSoftware has revealed four of the eight characters. Featured prominently on the game’s cover is Wylder, a versatile sword-and-shield warrior. Another intriguing character is Guardian, depicted as a humanoid falcon equipped with a hefty two-handed axe and a large shield, suggesting a robust play style. The roster includes Recluse, the mage, and Ironeye, an expert archer.
Duchess: The Agile Combatant
The latest gameplay trailer prominently features Duchess wielding a dagger, hinting at a fast-paced, glass cannon role characterized by her swift movements and rapid combos. Duchess’ unique Restage ability allows her to inflict damage on an enemy equivalent to the recent hits she has taken, while her Finale skill can cloak herself and nearby allies, presenting opportunities for strategic retreats or stealthy ambushes.
Additionally, the trailer showcases Duchess wielding a substantial sword, indicating that players might have the ability to equip her with heavier weaponry. Among the eight Nightreign characters, five have now been disclosed, leaving three yet to be revealed. Based on hints from the Game Awards announcement trailer, one of the anticipated characters appears to be a heavy-hitter equipped with a giant hammer, while another seems to be a quick, sword-wielding fighter. Details about the final character, however, remain elusive.

Elden Ring Nightreign is set to launch on May 30 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC, and players should stay tuned for the full character reveals in the weeks preceding the release. In other recent FromSoftware news, a new PvPvE game titled The Duskbloods was announced, slated for a 2026 debut on the Nintendo Switch 2. Fans of FromSoftware and Nintendo are keenly anticipating more details about this enigmatic, Bloodborne-inspired multiplayer title.
