Disney+ Moves Forward with ‘Knock-Off’ Production Amid Kim Soo-hyun Controversy

On March 12, 2025, OSEN announced that filming for the second season of Knock Off, featuring star Kim Soo-hyun, is set to continue as scheduled. The production remains unaffected by recent controversies involving the actor and the late actress Kim Sae-ron.

“The actors are currently filming on site as scheduled,”and “there have been no special changes. The production conference schedule has not been set either,”an official associated with Knock Off stated to OSEN.

Despite ongoing public scrutiny surrounding Kim Soo-hyun, Disney+ has yet to announce any alterations to the release plans for Knock Off Season 2, which explores the journey of an ordinary office worker whose existence takes a dramatic turn due to the IMF crisis. This character ultimately ascends to become a dominant figure in the global counterfeit market.

Originally scheduled for release in the first half of this year, the series is now in the final stages of preparation for the presentation of Season 1, which is set for April 2025.

Overview of Kim Soo-hyun’s Controversy

Kim Soo-hyun currently faces significant scrutiny following allegations presented by the YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute. In a video published on March 10, 2025, a woman claiming to be Kim Sae-ron’s aunt asserted that Kim Soo-hyun had been engaged in a secret relationship with her when she was a minor. This individual alleged that he maintained close ties with her even after they both joined the Gold Medalist agency.

The aunt further contended that Kim Soo-hyun severed connections with Kim Sae-ron after she was implicated in a drunk driving incident, and even sought financial damages following this separation.

In response, Gold Medalist, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, vehemently denied these allegations, condemning Garo Sero’s claims as “baseless falsehoods.” They have indicated intentions to pursue legal measures to combat the propagation of false information, while also expressing their condolences regarding Kim Sae-ron’s passing.

Additionally, the agency highlighted that Garo Sero’s claims serve as a continuation of the “cyber harassment”that affected her during her life.

Despite the denial from Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Ga Se-yeon, representing Kim Sae-ron’s family, escalated the situation further on March 11, 2025, by releasing additional purported evidence. This included photos and text messages allegedly from Kim Sae-ron, with one particularly notable image going viral. In this photo, a young Kim Sae-ron is seen kissing Kim Soo-hyun on the cheek, with her family claiming she was only 15 years old at the time, still in middle school.

The backlash against Kim Soo-hyun has intensified, especially in light of accusations from Kim Sae-ron’s family, suggesting that he may have played a role in her tragic circumstances. As a result, many netizens are calling on brands to sever ties with him, with threats of boycotts becoming increasingly common.
