Discovering the Hidden Grand Hub Bird Nest in Monster Hunter Wilds

In the captivating world of Monster Hunter Wilds, various creatures await discovery, not just those that are ferocious. Among them is the uniquely charming Gigacrake, a delightful oversized bird that nestles in one of the game’s busiest locales.

Locating the Gigacrake

The Gigacrake, affectionately referred to by players as the amusingly large downy crake, makes its home in the Grand Hub. However, finding this elusive bird is not straightforward; it requires navigating a bit of an obstacle course to uncover its hidden nest.

To begin your quest, enter the Grand Hub and immediately take a right. Follow the path that goes through an underpass of impressive stone pillars, leading you back into open air. As you emerge, turn left and be on the lookout for a vertical vine path adjacent to a small wooden structure.

Climb the vine until it brings you to what appears to be a massive ribcage structure, standing atop one of its bones. From here, direct your gaze to the cliffside on your right; you’ll need to make a leap to reach the nearest ledge near the first waterfall.

Due to the challenging nature of this jump, it’s advisable to get a running start to ensure you land safely. Once you reach the ledge, turn to your left and jump across the gap at the waterfall to the next ledge. Continue running until you spot another waterfall nearby (note: the Barrel Bowling mini-game is located nearby for your reference).

The nest of the Gigacrake is cleverly concealed behind this waterfall. If you make a small running jump, you can reach a ledge situated right behind it, leading you directly to the fluffy Gigacrake and its nest of Downy Crake fledglings.

A Nod to Previous Games

Interestingly, the Gigacrake’s presence serves as a delightful easter egg, reminiscent of the Cohoot, an owl creature featured in Monster Hunter Rise. Just like the Cohoot’s hidden nest in Elgado, finding the Gigacrake adds a nostalgic layer to the gameplay experience.

What Are Nest Trinkets in Monster Hunter Wilds?

Once you visit the hidden Gigacrake’s nest, you might encounter a special item called a Nest Trinket. This treasure can be picked up like any other item in the game and reveals a random assortment of valuable goodies upon retrieval. Sometimes you may find just one trinket, while other times there could be several.

The contents of these trinkets vary, including battle items, crafting materials, and even sellable treasures like Steel Eggs. After your initial encounter with the Gigacrake and the Nest Trinket, a respawn will occur, although the mechanics governing this spawn remain a bit of a mystery. Notably, the Rest trick doesn’t seem to influence this particular situation.

Your best strategy for more rewards is to complete hunts, as finishing these quests appears to increase the chances of spawning Nest Trinkets. Though it may require some patience—potentially waiting for the Gigacrake to complete its adorable routines—a trinket should eventually be available.

While hunting for Nest Trinkets isn’t the most efficient means of item or currency farming compared to other methods, it certainly adds a whimsical component to your adventures in Monster Hunter Wilds.
