In the world of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Ancient Relics play a crucial role as collectible items scattered throughout the game’s expansive maps. Each major location, including the Vatican, features its own unique set of ten relics. Initially considered insignificant, these artifacts may unlock a hidden ending upon collecting all 50, adding an exciting challenge to gameplay. With each relic hidden cleverly, players are encouraged to engage their surroundings and utilize the provided map diligently to uncover these treasures.
Completing the collection of Ancient Relics in each area also leads players through “Riddles of the Ancients”quests, which yield valuable Adventure Points. These points serve as a resource for acquiring skill books that enhance Indy’s capabilities. Beyond mere collectibles, the quest for relics allows players to immerse themselves in the game’s rich environments and historical references. Below is a detailed guide on how to uncover all the Ancient Relics located in the Vatican section.
Locating All Ancient Relics in the Vatican
Ancient Relic #1: Beneath The Library

The first Ancient Relic is generally spotted during the quest titled “The Stolen Cat Mummy.”Here, players will uncover a secret passageway located beneath the Vatican library by utilizing an amulet discovered through gameplay. As you navigate this area, be sure to search around the circular shelving unit, as the initial Ancient Relic rests on a table tucked away in a corner.
Ancient Relic #2: Beyond The Sacred Wounds

Continuing along the main storyline, players will encounter a series of puzzles leading to ancient ruins beneath the Tower of Nicholas V. This part is integral to the main quest, making it easily recognizable. If faced with puzzle challenges, don’t hesitate to utilize Indy’s camera for hints.
After solving the puzzles, players will step into the Necropolis. Use Indy’s whip to lower yourself into the chasm found within. Progress through a narrow pathway and discover the second Ancient Relic on the ground ahead.
Ancient Relic #3: The Necropolis

Following the discovery of the previous relic, jump into the water below. Swim until you reach solid ground and then navigate along the path until discovering a wall crack with water dripping.
To locate the next relic, you will need a lit torch. However, the dripping water will extinguish your flame if you attempt to pass through the crack. Instead, turn left, locate a small hole in the wall to throw a lit torch through, then return to the dripping wall. With your torch retrieved, proceed through the crack, where you’ll find a boarded-up door. By using your torch, clear the obstruction and claim your next Ancient Relic.
Ancient Relic #4: Busting Down Doors

Delving deeper into the ruins, head through a gate located to the left of the last relic location. Crouch under a narrow ramp and enter a spacious area. Be mindful of the Blackshirts patrolling the area, and sneak or prepare for engagement. Observe the door on your right before proceeding down the stairs.
Ascend the stairs, turn left across a catwalk, and enter a room containing an Antique Bust. Place this bust on the pedestal situated in the corner of the room; this action will open the door revealing your next Ancient Relic.
Ancient Relic #5: Climbing The Rafters

After returning the Antique Bust to its original pedestal, a new door will open. Proceed through and navigate under a collapsed column, then look for a whip hook above. Climb up onto the rafters and continue ascending through the area to discover yet another whip hook spot, leading you up into a small open chamber containing a skeleton and the next Ancient Relic.
Ancient Relic #6: More Busts & Pedestals

From your previous point, head back down the spiral staircase located in this room. Pull the chain at the bottom to open the gate and continue moving down the path until you find a crawlspace.
On emerging, veer left past the gate into a small room housing two Antique Busts. Choose one to carry to the nearby pedestal, which will unlock the gate. Inside lies a mace used to break through a cracked wall. After retrieving the second bust, carry it back to the pedestal in the earlier room to access the next Ancient Relic.
Ancient Relic #7: The Fountain Of Confession

Once the Fountain of Confession puzzle is solved, descend the two staircases revealed behind it. Proceed forward into the adjacent corridor, and after entering, a trapdoor will trigger, dropping you down to a lower level. Navigate through this area to climb up against broken columns and jump across while dodging rotating blades.
Upon entering a large chamber, head back up the stairs, pull the lever on your right, and enter through the newly opened doorway. Proceed to find a small crack in the wall and crawl through. Place the Antique Bust on the pedestal within to open another door in the prior room, where you’ll acquire an Ancient Relic.
Ancient Relic #8: The Fountain Of Confession, Part 2

Return to the staircases behind the Fountain of Confession, avoiding the trapdoor’s activation. Follow the path towards the room filled with swinging blades. Jump across the first set of platforms but notice a small platform on the left side before the second set. Drop onto it, and move forward to discover the next Ancient Relic resting on a crumbling column.
Ancient Relic #9: The Secret Monastery

This relic is located within the Secret Monastery, accessible after navigating the Silver and Gold Dragon Paths into a side room of the treasure chamber. As part of the main quest, you’ll find Gina lockpicking a door; once inside, proceed to the back right corner to discover the Ancient Relic resting on a shelf among books.
Ancient Relic #10: The Secret Of Giants

To secure the final Ancient Relic, you need to finish the side quest “The Secret of Giants,”involving locating and photographing ten inscriptions scattered throughout the Vatican. Once you gather them and return to Antonio, he will reward you with the Ancient Relic. The inscriptions can be discovered in several locations:
- In the Belvedere Courtyard fountain
- On top of the scaffolding in Belvedere Courtyard
- Beneath the scaffolding on the Via di Belvedere
- Inside the Apostolic Palace
- Next to the Fountain of Confessions
- At the excavation site
- In the Blackshirt barracks behind the excavation site
- Within the museum gardens
- In the sewers
- In the cellar
Completing this collection will signify that you have collected all ten Ancient Relics from the Vatican. The related quest will notify you upon completion, and worry not if you haven’t found them all before progressing—the absence of any points of no return in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle allows for future exploration.
