On April 14, 2025, American pop icon Katy Perry embarked on a remarkable adventure, launching into space aboard a Blue Origin rocket. This historic flight, which lasted 11 minutes, positioned Perry among six women who made the journey to the edge of outer space and back.
Following her spaceflight, a social media post from Drop Pop (@DropPopNet) ignited controversy. It was falsely claimed that Lady Gaga humorously referenced Perry’s brief flight, stating, “I’ve had farts longer than that,” in a now-deleted tweet.
“Lady Gaga hints at Katy Perry’s short trip to space in a deleted post: ‘I’ve had farts longer than that,” Drop Pop captioned, sharing an image of both artists in the supposed tweet.
The viral post generated 3.8 million views, but the authenticity of Gaga’s alleged comment has been confirmed as false. Community notes beneath the Drop Pop post clarified that Lady Gaga did not mention Perry’s journey on her social media accounts.
It’s important to note that the Drop Pop account is recognized for its parody content, as indicated in its description:
“A parody/satirical pop culture news outlet, solely and only meant for entertainment purposes. Nothing on this account represents factual news. DM for removal, inquiries, etc…”
This reinforces that the post regarding Gaga and Perry was designed for sensationalism rather than factual reporting.
Outside this controversy, Lady Gaga is actively touring in support of her latest album, Mayhem, and recently performed at the Coachella Music Festival.
Highlights of Katy Perry’s Space Adventure
Katy Perry’s journey into space was part of Blue Origin’s New Shepard Mission NS-31, which featured an all-female crew and marked a significant milestone in commercial space travel. The mission launched from West Texas, reaching an altitude of 100 kilometers, where the crew enjoyed a brief period of weightlessness.
The event was broadcast live by Blue Origin, helmed by Jeff Bezos, and it celebrated over six decades since the last all-female flight. Alongside Perry were notable figures including Lauren Sanchez, Gayle King, Aisha Bowe, Amanda Nguyen, and Kerianne Flynn.
After a successful landing via parachute, Perry expressed feelings of deep connection and love, sharing on social media, “There is no place like home.”She also brought a daisy with her, a sentimental reminder of her daughter.

Gayle King recounted that after returning to gravity, Perry serenaded the crew with Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,”expressing gratitude for being grounded once again.
Lauren Sanchez, fighting back tears, reflected on the experience, stating:
“I’m so proud of this crew. I can’t put it into words. I looked out of the window and we got to see the moon. Earth looked so quiet. It was quiet but really alive.”
Attendees at the launch included Oprah Winfrey and celebrity figures such as Kris Jenner and Khloe Kardashian.
“I didn’t realize how emotional it would be. It’s hard to explain. I have all this adrenaline, and I’m just standing here… dream big, wish for the stars—and one day, you could maybe be amongst them,”Khloe shared in an interview.
Oprah added context about King’s fears of flying, noting:
“For her—whew—anytime we’re on a flight, she’s in somebody’s lap at the slightest bit of turbulence. This… is her overcoming a wall of fear,”she remarked.
The cost of participating in this extraordinary Blue Origin mission remains undisclosed, although Blue Origin’s website suggests a refundable deposit of $150,000 to start the booking process. Reports from 2018 indicated pricing at $200,000 per individual, with high bids reaching $28 million for future missions.
Professor Loizos Heracleous, an expert in strategy and organization, estimated that each mission costs between $1 to $3 million to launch. Perry and her crew benefited from a fully autonomous flight experience, without a pilot on board, and underwent comprehensive training over two days focusing on essential safety and emergency protocols.
Throughout the flight, two support crew members stayed on the ground, one providing guidance to the passengers and another managing communications from the control room.
