Diablo 4 Season 8 Battle Pass Update: Timeline of The Reliquary Rewards, Pricing, and Key Changes Explained

The much-anticipated rework of Diablo 4 Season 8’s Battle Pass has been officially announced, introducing the innovative Reliquary system. This overhaul fundamentally changes the way players earn and select rewards throughout the current Season and potentially in upcoming ones, pending player feedback. As we await the launch on April 29, 2025, the main question on many players’ minds is: how does this new system function?

Recently, Blizzard disclosed details about the Reliquary, including the costs associated with unlocking Premium rewards and a sneak peek at the content available in the free tier. This new approach aims to provide a more engaging and rewarding experience for players in Sanctuary.

Exploring Diablo 4 Season 8 Rewards

Historically, players found the old Battle Pass to be a monotonous grind, gradually unlocking rewards that often felt uninspired or unwanted. Season 8’s Reliquary changes this by allowing players more agency over their rewards. While specific rewards aren’t revealed yet, more details will emerge as the launch date approaches. Here’s what we know so far:

The Reliquary introduces two main types of Reliquaries: Battle Pass and Event Reliquaries. Primarily, players will engage with Battle Pass Reliquaries, which for Season 8 includes:

  • Belial’s Return (Free)
  • Weapons (Premium)
  • Beasts (Premium)
  • Armor (Premium)

The free Belial’s Return pass offers rewards typically found in conventional Battle Passes, such as:

  • Town Portal
  • Weapon Cosmetics
  • Horse Cosmetics
  • Platinum
  • Gloves of the Deceiver transmog (Bonus Reward)

One of the standout features is the ability to select rewards in the order you prefer using Favor Tokens, which can be earned by defeating enemies and completing quests. Players can accumulate up to 99 of these tokens at a time, facilitating a more personalized reward collection experience.

As for the Beasts Tab within the Season 8 Reliquary, it consists of eight rewards, including a Bonus Reward which is unlocked after completing the tier, requiring approximately 42 Favor Tokens to finish — additional costs remain undisclosed for now.

The costs for obtaining the Premium Reliquaries are set at 200 (Weapons), 500 (Beasts), and 800 (Armor) individually, or all three can be unlocked for the total of 1,000 Platinum. Thankfully, these pricing structures seem consistent with the previous Season, minimizing any financial shock for players.

This new system presents flexibility; for instance, players can choose to purchase only what they desire rather than committing to the full 1,000 Platinum. Each Premium Reliquary includes thematic rewards, which come with their bonus rewards upon completion. Notably, the following items can be expected:

  • Weapons: A variety of weapon cosmetics along with the Guise of the Deceiver Boots (Bonus Rewards)
  • Beasts: Exclusive mounts, mount cosmetics, and a pet, featuring the Guise of the Deceiver Legs (Bonus Rewards)
  • Armor: Class-specific cosmetic armor sets, alongside Town Portal cosmetics and the Guise of the Deceiver Chest/Helmet (Bonus Rewards)

The Premium Reliquaries in Season 8 not only offer a series of rewards but also cater to varied player preferences by allowing purchases in any order. Players who opt for the Deluxe Edition Battle Pass, priced at 2,800 Platinum, will gain immediate access to the Guise of the Deceiver Armor Set as well as other lucrative rewards, including:

  • Deceiver’s Final Form Wings for each Class
  • Orinocta the Owl pet
  • Full access to the Weapons, Beasts, and Armor Reliquaries

Additionally, Blizzard hinted at the introduction of Event Reliquaries, which will be launched during special events and collaborations with other intellectual properties. While the specifics regarding their pricing remain unclear, this could provide an opportunity for players to access unique cosmetics at potentially lower rates, contrasting with the typically high prices witnessed in the in-game shop.

With collaborations like the upcoming Berserk brand, players have a chance to evaluate the pricing and reward strategies in practice. Overall, I’m optimistic about the new approach; it simplifies the process of selecting desired content and streamlines the experience, potentially enhancing player satisfaction.
