Destiny 2 Barrow-Dyad Exotic Catalyst: Discover Secret Quests in The Nether

In the ever-evolving universe of Destiny 2, the newly introduced Exotic weapon, the Barrow-Dyad Submachine Gun, is making waves. This Strand SMG is equipped with four craftable Catalysts, reminiscent of previous Exotic weapons. Players have the option to embark on weekly secret quests enabled by the game or opt to wait until all four Catalysts are available to collect them at once.

To begin your journey towards acquiring these Catalysts, it is crucial to first complete the Barrow-Dyad Exotic quest to gain access to the weapon, followed by initiating the “Dyadic Ascension” quest. Upon completion of these prerequisites, you can proceed with the steps outlined below.

Acquiring the First Barrow-Dyad Catalyst

1) Initiating Dyadic Ascension

The initial step of the Dyadic Ascension quest requires you to elevate your Slab, specifically the Resolve Path, to level 12. This advancement will grant you access to “Moment of Clarity” from the Slab.

Following this, your quest objectives will update, prompting you to collect 18 Taken Osseus Fragments from The Nether. You can locate six of these fragments in each of the three primary spawning zones on the Dreadnaught. Here is what they typically look like:

Finding the Taken Osseus Fragments is relatively straightforward, as they will appear on your mini-map when you are in proximity.

Once you have collected all fragments, return to the Slab to receive an Intrinsic Upgrade for your weapon. At this stage, the quest will conclude.

2) Completing the Catalyst Quest for High-Impact Reserves

To obtain the quest for the first Barrow-Dyad Catalyst, you need to complete a run of the Expert Court of Blades while equipped with the Barrow-Dyad.

Upon finishing this run, you will receive a Sharp Osseus Spine, which can be exchanged for a new quest at the Slab. Head back to the Slab and select the “A Needle’s Path” quest.

3) A Needle’s Path Quest

To successfully complete this quest, navigate through an entire Expert Court of Blades with your Barrow-Dyad Submachine Gun and utilize precision weapons, such as a Scout Rifle, Sniper Rifle, or Linear Fusion Rifles. A complete run is characterized by defeating a major boss during the final round.

After successfully looting the final chest, you will receive the High-Impact Reserves Catalyst.

Obtaining the Second Barrow-Dyad Catalyst

1) Initiating the Catalyst Quest for Threadling

Before you embark on this quest, ensure that you have completed the Act II Week 2 segment of the “Rite of the Deep” questline. Once this is done, spawn in the Trenchway area of The Nether while equipped with the Barrow-Dyad. Proceed to the open area with the bridge and locate an entryway within the wall, as depicted below.

Pass through this opening and look to your left to find an object. Interacting with this object will open a portal.

If you encounter an issue stating that the “Rites of the Deep tithe is lacking,” a potential workaround is to join another player who has access to the portal, whether through matchmaking or friends.

Note that the portal is experiencing a bug, and there has been no announcement from Bungie regarding a fix yet.

Upon entering the portal, you’ll find a loot chest on your right, which will provide you with a Heavy Osseus Spine. Deliver this item to the Slab to acquire your Catalyst quest.

2) Catalyst Quest Completion

The subsequent steps involve maximizing the reputation of the Slab on the Ambition Path and completing an Expert Nether run while equipped with a Sword, Glaives, Shotgun, and, of course, the Barrow-Dyad.

This article will be updated as additional information becomes available regarding the remaining two Catalysts in Destiny 2: Heresy Act III.
