Death Stranding 2 Introduces Boss Battle Skips, Sparking Mixed Reactions Among Fans

Launched in 2019, Death Stranding stands out as a significant achievement in Hideo Kojima’s oeuvre. This highly anticipated title captured the hearts of gamers, leading to an exciting announcement regarding its sequel, Death Stranding 2, which is set to launch soon. As anticipation builds, fans are eagerly following every new detail, including a recent update revealing that players will have the option to skip boss fights in the forthcoming game.

The decision to allow players to bypass challenging boss encounters stems from growing criticisms in the gaming community about increased difficulty levels making games less enjoyable for many. To address this concern, Kojima has opted for a visual novel-style solution, permitting players to skip these intense battles if they choose to do so. This innovative approach aims to enhance accessibility for a wider audience.

Despite the intention behind the feature, the announcement has sparked mixed reactions among fans. A user on X, identified as @DeniZykov, expressed skepticism by tweeting:

“So the next step to make games more accessible will be letting people skip the whole game.”

Similarly, another user, @lordgorzul, shared concerns, stating:

“Why is everyone watering down their games to cater to people unfit to play them.”

On the other hand, some franchise supporters viewed this feature positively. Many believe that the original game already featured relatively manageable boss fights. Thus, the option to skip such encounters could imply that Death Stranding 2 might ramp up the difficulty for its bosses. User @M3slice remarked:

“DS1 boss fights were easy enough already…..hopefully this means they increased the difficulty.”

Conversely, there are fans who appreciate the move towards inclusivity. User @MonsierOblivion commented:

“Always good to see. Nothing wrong with giving people options and leaving no one behind. I like that.”

Support for the added flexibility was echoed by @Zuber_farah, who stated:

“That’s great news! It’s always nice to see developers adding features to help all players enjoy their games. Looking forward to seeing what else Death Stranding 2 has in store!”

Death Stranding 2 is slated for a global release on June 26, 2025. It will remain exclusive to the PlayStation platform upon launch, similar to its predecessor, which premiered as a PlayStation exclusive in 2019. The PC version of the original was released later, in July 2020; thus, it is reasonable to speculate that a PC port for the sequel might eventually follow.
