In “Art for Art’s Sake,”the narrative is less sprawling than previous episodes, focusing on Matt’s self-destructive pursuit of Muse, who escaped the chaos of their last confrontation. Meanwhile, Wilson Fisk’s frustration mounts over Daredevil’s resurgence. He vehemently conveys to his aide, Buck Cashman, that he views Murdock not as an ally but as a significant threat to his “jobs program,”leading to discussions about how to eliminate vigilantes once and for all.

Unbeknownst to them both, they are hunting the same killer. With the knowledge of Muse’s identity now shared, the city is engulfed in a manhunt involving regular police, Matt, and a special task force assembled by Wilson. Ironically, Muse is no longer in hiding but rather sitting calmly in Heath Glenn’s office.

This season’s prominent love interest is Heather, a therapist and author who manages the complex dynamics involving the Fisks and a troubled young man, Bastion Cooper. Initially introduced as a client seeking help, Bastion’s storyline has been largely sidelined until now, revealing crucial developments in the plot.

Wilson Fisk: The Job Creator?

  • Fisk genuinely perceives Daredevil as the villain, complicating his character further.
  • He convinces himself that his criminal activities are beneficial, referring to “blue-collar billionaires.”
  • In conversations with Buck, it remains uncertain whether Fisk is deluded or simply manipulative.

Episode 7 builds up to a significant reveal: while Bastion divulges his trauma to Heather, police detective Angie Kim informs the mayor that she has a lead on Muse. Her investigation reveals that Muse is not just a dangerous criminal, but an accomplished martial artist as well.

Bastion’s conversation with Heather uncovers his dark inner thoughts and hidden talents in martial arts. He ultimately reveals his murderous intentions, targeting Heather due to her insights into his true nature.

As he prepares to drain her blood, Daredevil intervenes, leading to a fierce fight. The police, alerted to a lead regarding Bastion, move in to act, but the situation escalates quickly.

In a critical moment, Heather manages to grab Muse’s weapon amidst the chaos and shoots him multiple times, ultimately killing him. Daredevil escapes just before the authorities arrive, who subsequently take credit for neutralizing the threat. Later, in the hospital, Heather wakes and tells Matt that the “other man”who saved her felt intimately familiar to her, hinting at her medical team’s dawning realization about Daredevil’s true identity.

However, she proves to be more resilient than her husband’s associates anticipated. At the episode’s close, she discreetly communicates Wilson’s presence at a restaurant, setting the stage for a violent confrontation.

The would-be assassin discovers that he is not alone at the restaurant, as Fisk’s loyal ally Buck intervenes, shooting him before he can act. Fisk then humorously suggests to Buck that he should ask Vanessa if she’d like dinner brought home, reflecting the subtle complexities of their relationship.
