Dana Carvey Performs Impressions of Trump and Elon Musk for Bill Maher Before ‘Real Time’ Host’s White House Visit

Dana Carvey Delivers Celebrity Impressions on Real Time With Bill Maher

During his recent appearance on Real Time With Bill Maher, comedian Dana Carvey showcased his skills in impersonation, leaving audiences amused with his takes on prominent figures like former President Donald Trump and tech entrepreneur Elon Musk. While he confidently presented his Trump impression, Carvey admitted that he is still honing his Musk portrayal.

Perfecting the Musk Impression

In a light-hearted conversation with Maher, Carvey explained his ongoing efforts to refine his Musk impression. “So, Trump’s there, and he’s got the tie, and then Elon is up there talking, right? And I don’t really do it yet, but I’m working on it,” he remarked. This reference stems from Musk’s earlier comments on his impression during the November episode of SNL.

Carvey humorously mimicked Musk’s characteristic speech pattern, stating, “We got to go to Mars because we can’t sustain life on planet Earth. We gotta go to Mars, it’s just gonna be really cool.” Shifting gears, he derived a response in his Trump voice, saying, “What he said. He’s a smart cookie, he’s a tough cookie, he’s a Cookie Monster. This one, he’s smart. Everybody talks about it. He’s like Chips Ahoy. Excuse me. Everybody knows it.”

Critiques from Musk

Carvey’s Musk impression first debuted in the post-election episode of SNL on November 9, 2020, where he aimed for humor while attempting to appeal to Trump supporters. In response to Carvey’s portrayal, Musk took to X (formerly Twitter), commenting, “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.”

Furthermore, Musk criticized SNL for perceived irrelevance, stating on X that the show has been “dying slowly for years” due to its disconnect with reality. He pointed out that their attempts to support Kamala Harris before the election did not yield the intended results.

Maher’s Upcoming Plans

The conversation prompted laughter from Maher, who had made headlines for his intention to visit the White House. He recently shared plans to meet Trump, alongside his association with musician Kid Rock. On the forthcoming episode of his podcast, Club Random, which will air this Sunday, Maher expressed his disinterest in political gamesmanship, stating, “I’m not playing this game that you mean girls play.”

He continued, “Not talking to you? You lost the election. Who the fuck do you think you have to talk to?” Maher emphasized the absurdity he sees in such political posturing while revealing that Kid Rock initiated the invitation to meet Trump at the White House.
