Comprehensive Walkthrough for the Atomfall Mother Jago Mission

In the immersive world of Atomfall, Mother Jago serves as a pivotal character, guiding players on a unique path towards escape. However, her notion of liberation transcends mere physical freedom, focusing instead on a spiritual exit from the quarantine zone. The game boasts multiple conclusions—six, to be precise—each centered around essential figures: Mother Jago, Joyce Tanner, a cryptic telephone presence, Captain Sims, Dr. Garrow, and Dr. Alan Holder.

While Mother Jago’s guidance is indeed distinctive, it often leaves players yearning for a more profound understanding of the overarching narrative, particularly concerning the enigmatic Interchange and Oberon. To delve deeper into the rich story and unlock the mysteries surrounding the fictional Windscale disaster, players are encouraged to follow the paths laid out by Dr. Garrow and Dr. Alan Holder.

Overview of Atomfall

Atomfall is set across four primary regions (excluding The Interchange): Slatten Dale, Wyndham Village, Skethermoor, and Casterfell Woods. The game lacks predefined objectives, inviting players to gather clues, engage with characters, and uncover the story at their own pace.

Your adventure starts in the Derelict Bunker. As you step outside, you find yourself in Slatten Dale, where your primary goal is to investigate Interchange and navigate your way out of the quarantine zone. Though numerous clues can point you to Mother Jago, a more straightforward route involves traveling directly to her coordinates.

Quest for Mother Jago’s Herbalism Book

Upon finding Mother Jago, she will request your assistance in retrieving her herbalism book, which has been taken by the druids to their stronghold, Castle Ruins (coordinates: 19.6 E, 83.7 N) located in the southwestern area of the map.

Steps to Recover the Herbalism Book:

  1. Defeat or evade enemies as you ascend towards the castle door.
  2. Once inside, navigate left to reach the kitchen where you will find the Castle Key near a lit candle.
  3. Proceed to the main dining hall featuring a large chair by the fireplace.
  4. Use the Castle Key on the door to a hidden chamber on the right of the fireplace.
  5. Within the chamber, locate the library on the right; the herbalism book rests on the central table among candles.
  6. Additionally, collect the recipe for the Strange Tonic from the study table.

After successfully retrieving the book, return it to Mother Jago, who will implore you to trust in Oberon and enhance the voice within by making an offering at a worship statue.

Making the Offering

To fulfill this request, travel to The Speaking Cave at the coordinates 23.0 E, 85.4 N. Inside, the druids will not attack if you possess the offering. Look for a large, tree-branched statue where you can place your offering below.

Once your offering is made, return to Mother Jago, who awaits just outside the cave. She will then instruct you to obtain a Growth Stimulant from the Medical Tunnels.

Acquiring the Signal Redirector

Before venturing into the Medical Tunnels, consider gathering the Signal Redirector to activate the Interchange. You can find it in either the Windfall Crate or Skethermoor Prison.

Working alongside Captain Sims at Wyndham Village is a recommended strategy. Contribute to his investigations, such as the murder at St. Katherine’s Church, to gain his trust. He will direct you to Skethermoor Prison where you can gather insights from Dr. Garrow. After conversing with Dr. Garrow, proceed to find the Security Room located to the north, where the Signal Redirector awaits.

Activating the Interchange and Opening the Windscale Plant

To activate the Interchange, you will need to gather four Atomic Batteries. Here are some ways you can acquire them:

Locations of Atomic Batteries:

  • Defeat Robots – A tough encounter, as all robots carry Atomic Batteries.
  • Trade with Molly (Slatten Dale) – Either trade for a battery or eliminate her.
  • Solve St. Katherine’s Church Murder Mystery – Gain a chest key leading to a battery; alternatively, dispose of the Vicar for the key.
  • Find a Broken Robot (Skethermoor) – Located near Nora’s Camp (41.2 E, 78.2 N).
  • Trade with Nora (Skethermoor) – Similar to Molly, negotiate or defeat her.
  • Greenhouse Landmark (Vehicle Storage Bunker) – Retrieve the Storage Room Keycard from a bunk bed to unlock a battery storage area.

Steps to Activate the Interchange

Once you’ve gathered the batteries, head to the Interchange entrance at Slatten Dale (31.0 E, 77.8 N). Enter the Central Processor room, where you’ll discover another Atomic Battery. Insert it into the terminal to power the Interchange bootstrap.

Next, you will need to activate all four data centers:

  • Slatten Dale Entrance: Charlie & Delta Data Centers
  • Skethermoor Entrance: Alpha Data Center
  • Wyndham Village Entrance: Bravo Data Center

After activating the data centers, navigate back to the Central Processor room and use the Signal Redirector to reroute the power. Pull the lever to fully activate the Interchange, thus unlocking access to the Windscale plant.

Collecting the Growth Stimulant in the Medical Tunnel

Your next destination is the Medical Tunnel. Access this area from the base level of the Interchange. Utilize the Signal Redirector to neutralize wall turrets, and maneuver past the robots towards the northwest. You will encounter a tunnel blanketed in blue clouds that can sap your health. Prepare a Strange Tonic before advancing through the tunnel, where you will eventually discover the Growth Serum next to a deceased scientist.

With the Growth Serum in hand, make your way towards the Windscale plant. Stay vigilant as you will face infected adversaries and ferals; consuming another Strange Tonic could prove advantageous. Continue until you arrive at a massive door leading to the Oberon Digsite. To your left, you will discover a building—enter and navigate through it to reach an exit that leads you to the Oberon Site.

Administering the Growth Stimulant to Oberon

Within the Oberon Site, locate the Fire Safety Fluid Input terminal and insert the Growth Serum. Proceed to the Digsite while staying alert for robots that you will need to defeat. Find and activate two fire safety valves during your exploration. After doing this, return to the building and access the control room to pull the Fire Safety System lever.
